What You'll Do
• Develop and execute creative and strategic PR programs that generate awareness, preference and demand for Cisco’s IoT and Applications products and solutions
• Oversee competitive response effort
• Develop and strengthen relationships with influential reporters and bloggers of key technology and business outlets (print, broadcast, online and social media)
• Lead and manage PR aspects of product and program launches but also seek out trend stories to smooth the “peaks and valleys” of launch-driven PR
• Develop and implement award, speaker’s bureau (for select events) and bylined article programs
Watch: Career Advice • Closely partner with social media, analyst relations and marketing colleagues to develop impactful integrated campaigns
• Partner with marketing and social teams to develop and execute a wide range of proactive campaigns, customer/partner wins and testimonials
• Serve as an active adviser for Cisco executives and other decision-makers on all things PR
• Maintain an understanding of Cisco’s broader business and technology landscape, with a “finger on the pulse” of relevant issues and trends that impact the company’s business and reputation
• Play a key role in the development of PR programs for the annual Cisco events in this area of the business (e.g. Collaboration Summit and IoT World Forum)
Who You Are
• BA/BS degree and a minimum of 8+ years of related experience in public relations/corporate communications
• Passion for media relations ─ a true media enthusiast who enjoys pitching and working closely with media and influencers
• Demonstrated success in media relations with channel, technology, business, broadcast and social media outlets; knowledge of channel and go-to-market strategies and programs preferred
• A true team player who values working in a collaborative environment
• Tangible and current relationships with relevant trade and business media and reporters
• Solid interpersonal, relationship-building, and communications skills
• Excellent writing skills, with the demonstrated ability to draft high-quality news releases, blogs, proactive pitches, FAQs, message tracks and related documents
• Adept at leveraging social media channels and tools to support communications objectives
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and balance priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent time management, organizational, and project management skills
• Strong Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
