Director Portfolio Analytics AIG New York

We are searching for an energetic, innovative and seasoned Director to join the Portfolio Analytics team within AIG Commercial Pricing & Analytics.
The team is created to help drive Commercial Underwriting strategy formulation, planning and tracking through data driven analytics and insights. Our goal is to identify opportunities across commercial businesses via portfolio planning tools to quickly incorporate underwriters’ feedbacks into refining decisions to ensure achieving the business goals.

Responsibilities will include:

Own underwriting “feedback loops” of Casualty business by working and collaborating closely with the Pricing and Underwriting teams as well as others to ensure current strategy execution is on trajectory to achieve business goal

A self-starter to oversee critical projects from idea conception and strategy development to execution and ongoing monitoring

Build extensive relationships with diverse stakeholders— including pricing and underwriting teams, finance, IT etc to external partners

Create robust solutions that can be deployed immediately and cover the entire spectrum of execution (operations, finance, organization, technology, and legal and regulations)

Lead project teams consistent of direct and indirect reports and deliver on set projects

Working with actuaries and underwriters and others in different product areas to make ensure proper implementation and governance of pricing strategies.

Provide both high-level executive insights and deep-detail understanding across a variety of solutions

Communicate recommendations effectively and compel colleagues to action

Excellent ability to recruit, coach and train team members


Position Requirements:

Minimum of 6-8 years of experience with a combination of financial industry and management consulting experience

Powerful blend of IQ (technical skills, consistent learning, statistical & financial acumen) and EQ (adaptive communication, empathy, listening skills, challenging with humility)

High level of quantitative and research skills, and proven data interpretation capabilities

Outstanding analytical problem solving and teamwork skills

Ability to deal with multiple high level stakeholders across departments at global level

Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as influencing skills

Outstanding presentation skills, including presenting to a mid-large size audience

Self-learning, energetic and enthusiastic

Significant actuarial experience and in-depth working knowledge in commercial insurance

Demonstrated ability to drive change through collaboration

Drive to push teams to achieve superior performance while creating a supportive developmental environment

Comfortable with changing priorities and juggling many various functions and projects

A Master’s degree or higher is a plus
