Reporting to the Vice President, Retail North America, the Director, Business Development is responsible for managing the overall performance and development of Cavendish branded retail products. The successful candidate will work in co-operation with functional and cross-functional peers and support groups to build the Cavendish brand in the US retail market. The role will initially focus on Northeast retailers in all channels and the successful candidate will be based out of their home office in the Northeast region.

Proficient in MS Office applications
Additional preferred skills: AC Nielson, Retailers POS programs (ie Precima), internal programs (ie Cognos, Demantra)
Key Responsibilities:
Develop Cavendish branded sales in the US retail channel (including Food, Drug and Mass)
Work with retailers to schedule appointments, gain shelf placement, and implement marketing and sales promotions
Achieve yearly budget and gross margin goals
Manages trade spending within allocated budget, and maintains all requisite records in accordance with company protocols and makes well thought out recommendations to optimize sales growth
Seeks business growth opportunities by analyzing customer and category performance, and works in cooperation with internal departments including Category Management and Marketing
Develops fact-based recommendations/solutions to drive sales
Negotiates pricing & promotional programs to develop the business within the approved parameters and strategies of the Company
Acts as the primary conduit for communication between the account and the Company, quarterbacking all aspects of the customer relationship
Maintains ongoing internal and external reporting protocol in accordance with corporate and customer cadence requirements
Works with cross-functional support resources in supply chain, demand planning, and demand fulfillment to optimize customer service levels
