Second Story is seeking a multi-talented Senior Art Director to lead the visual design of diverse interactive media. You are a hands-on designer with a spectacular, well-rounded portfolio that bridges interaction, motion, and graphic design. You have a demonstrated interest in technology, a proven passion for non-traditional interfaces, and a solid understanding of physical spaces. As a core part of an interdisciplinary project team, you will define a project’s creative trajectory from early strategy to the development and implementation of visual, physical, motion, and interaction design, bringing visual excellence to generative, responsive, and interactive experiences.

Design and execute creative deliverables
Contribute to the conceptual development of projects, generating multiple, diverse solutions
Present creative concepts to clients
Create materials for proposals and new business responses
Generate design and motion studies that communicate spatial and time-based concepts
Design experiences created in diverse authoring environments that generate real-time display of data and content
Create multi-user interfaces that simultaneously engage individuals and groups
Lead production artists and junior designers while working on multiple simultaneous projects
THE CANDIDATE MUST BE:
A visual artist whose command of graphic, motion, and physical design establishes the emotional tenor of a project, paints the complexion of its interfaces, and brings clarity to complexity
A passionate storyteller whose command of interactive media elicits strong emotional, intellectual, and inspirational reactions
Adept at translating a brand’s messaging and positioning to interactive experiences
Proficient in diverse interactive formats (mobile devices, web experiences, kiosks, immersive interactive surfaces, environments, etc.)
An effective communicator who can cultivate ongoing relationships with clients
An enthusiastic, flexible collaborator who works well within an interdisciplinary team
Collaborative, professional, outgoing, friendly, and fearless
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
A masterful command of the craft of design
Expert proficiency in relevant design programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, 3D Studio Max, Cinema 4D, InDesign, etc.)
The ability to generate and refine ideas into thoughtful, provocative concepts
The ability to clearly articulate ideas both verbally and in writing
A proven ability to nurture and grow the skills of designers
Experience with projects that contain physical components is not required but preferred
Graphic Design/Interactive Design (or related) professional degree
5-7 years of professional experience in interactive & visual design
