The Medical Affairs Project Management (PM) team focuses on driving performance through learning, technology, and the practice of innovation. The Director, US Medical Affairs Project Management leads the overall USMA PM organization and supports numerous therapeutic areas (TAs) and programs. The scope of this role is for the US Area/Affiliate, supporting multiple TAs at a portfolio level (i.e. collection of unrelated TAs).

Ensures that a team of 10 high-level USMA Project Managers are performing at a high level of effectiveness in providing Project Management for their designated TA Leads and Teams, and that MAT operations are efficient, effective, and harmonized across USMA
Cross-functionally integrates and manages resources across USMA PM, including budget and headcount, to achieve USMAT deliverables. Partners closely with the US Finance organization to manage monthly, quarterly and yearly spending for the US TAs according to Plan/Update.
Collects and communicates performance measures/metrics for MAT operations across the portfolio. Monitors performance measures and implements plans to correct/improve when necessary. These measures include, but are not limited to, tactical execution and financial status/LBE information for headcount and budgets across USMATs.
Coordination of the LRP, Plan and Update processes and participating in initiatives to further develop/improve such processes.
Assess portfolio issues and develop solutions to ensure overall portfolio productivity, quality, and timelines are met within budget, involving other functional areas where appropriate. Identifies risks and communicates as needed. Actively seeks solutions and takes calculated risks where appropriate.
Works to develop and improve the tools, templates and processes across the USMA and Project Management organizations. Works to navigate and anticipate upcoming “planning” processes and deliverables (e.g. LRP, Medical Planning).
Heavy reliance on partnering with the various components within Global Medical Affairs team (HQ, Publications, Evidence Solutions, External Customer Engagement, etc), OEC/CCG, Clinical Development, Development Operations, QA and Regulatory Affairs, for input and resource support as a priority for this function.
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. Ensure activities maximize value and support USMA activities on time and in budget and in compliance with the Outsourcing, Purchasing and compliance process parameters.
Qualifications
Basic:
Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or business-related field is required.
Project management certification (e.g. PMP) preferred.
Business degree or MBA desired
Applied knowledge of project management tools and processes (e.g. management of integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk and procurement)
Performance measurement (e.g. metrics, dashboards)
At least 12 years of experience pharmaceutical experience with a Bachelors, 11 years with MS, 9 Years with PhD.
Experience should include 3-5 years previous planning, operational or portfolio management experience.
Demonstrated management experience.
