Reporting to the VP, Experience Design, the CD will work with several tiers of designers and initiative stakeholders to build a cohesive and scalable visual language across all product lines.This is people-oriented job, involving development of concepts and implementation of designs for Autodesk’s most challenging projects. This role will require a strategic mindset, critical thinking, proven leadership experience, collaboration, and execution with cross-functional teams on behalf of the customer. The role will also include regular reviews with senior management to ensure alignment on business objectives and resource allocation.

Discipline Leadership
● Demonstrate collaborative global leadership with a team of design managers and product line leaders across multiple cross-product initiatives
● Lead high-stakes design challenges, particularly on complex and mission critical projects
● Contribute directly with concepts and designs to key projects
● Build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and lead formal design reviews across the company
● Set a high bar for visual quality, and support Autodesk’s high quality work standards
● Design and develop strategic insights for Autodesk’s global customers
● Foster the ongoing development of the visual design practice by staying abreast of design best practices, emerging interaction design patterns, and new technologies

Required Skills
● Minimum 10 years experience in a creative management capacity
● Ability to work independently; prioritize and solve problems proactively
● Experience leading deliberate change within an organization through transformative design; ability to influence a strong point of view in a large organization
● Proven history of collaborate with designers, developers, and project managers to generate superb visual design work
● Excellent team-building and problem-solving
skills
● Ability to articulate business strategy, user experience, product design, and branding –and to balance these with customer needs and technological constraints when generating design solutions
● Background of designing for complex global product experiences that delight customers
● Outstanding portfolio of successful projects that had a significant impact on the organization
● Genuine zeal for experience design, with a portfolio of writing and speaking on related topics that express a point of view
● Passionate understanding and empathy for customers when designing the total end-to-end experience
● Ability to understand and apply qualitative research, quantitative research, and analytics to solve customer’s problems based on their needs
● Creativity and attention to detail in standalone designs and design systems alike
● Willingness to take smart risks and learn from failure
● Superior presentation, oral, and written skills
● Experience with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Flash
● Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Design or other relevant major

Additional Qualifications
● Experience designing multichannel experiences
● Experience with touch and gesture interfaces, prototyping, animation, transitions
● Experience working with agile processes; support continuous work cycles and sprints
● Ability to prototype design work; coding skills is a big plus
● Deep interest and understanding of emerging trends and technologies
