The Director, Business Development - Medical position will be based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. This position is responsible for providing leadership in the formation of corporate and strategic plans and to create new business and sustain current accounts. Additionally, the position will participate in the planning, design and implementation of customers’ specific business plans and will provide vision, penetration strategies and tactics to managers in order to develop and drive external and internal relationships. Also, responsible for analyzing and understanding customers’ business strategies, future product plans, expansion activities and align Flex resources where mutually beneficial and will cultivate and capture new business.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do…
Define business priorities through a broad and far vision of market and technology needs, to include initiating and managing business development activities that will strengthen, expand and drive market penetration.
Assist current accounts in the development and execution of product roadmaps and act as a focal point in delivering Flex’s solutions which include concept development, industrial design, manufacturing, supply chain/logistics, services support and reverse logistics.
Work to operational objectives for the Business Development function and delegate assignments to other team members as appropriate
Work closely with the team to manage each account for maximum operating profit and revenue growth and develop and communicate metrics for same to all levels of internal and external management
Maintain and sustain business relationships, close deals and drive high levels of customer satisfaction Support and/or participate in management team negotiations on difficult and or critical business matters, through interaction with senior and executive level managers both internally and externally
Be involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies which affect immediate operations and may also have a company-wide effect
Work on issues within the spectrum of planning, budgeting, implementing and maintaining cost and methods
Work closely with the Account Management team to ensure budgets, schedules and performance criteria are met
Manage activities within the department in terms of costs and methods
Here is some of what you’ll need (required)…
Bachelor’s degree in relevant business or engineering field and MBA is preferred
Seven years of relevant business development experience within the medical industry
Must have direct sales experience
Knowledge of medical device and equipment manufacturing
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or styles
Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages
Demonstrates expert functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills
Demonstrates detailed expertise in very complex functional/ technical area or broad breadth of knowledge in multiple areas; understands the strategic impact of the function across sites
Willing to travel 25% either domestic and/or international
