Forrester Research is seeking a Vice President, Research Director to lead a research team for our chief marketing officer (CMO) practice. This practice serves clients who are responsible for setting the marketing agenda for their brand or company across digital and traditional marketing channels (e.g., media mix, marketing leadership, consumer insights, brand experience and strategy, loyalty, as well as traditional and digital advertising).

Our ideal candidate has experience leading both marketing and research teams. He or she will lead a research team of seven or more people and must be able to effectively coach both seasoned and new analysts. He or she must be passionate about helping individuals achieve their full potential as strategic thinkers and writers.
Finally, this person will be responsible for acting as an advocate and champion for the CMO role both within Forrester and with our clients. This entails partnering closely with our global sales organization during the pursuit of new business opportunities as well as the enrichment of existing client relationships.
Responsibilities
Engage as a thought partner with the analyst team to refine and expand the existing research agenda.
Edit syndicated research reports and ensure the quality of our intellectual property.
Serve as a mentor and coach to new members of the research team in support of their professional development goals.
Partner with account teams to identify and pursue business opportunities.
Provide input and support to the team of other Forrester professionals who serve clients in the CMO role.
Meet the team performance goals for smooth content production, consulting revenues, and client support.
Participate in Forrester-sponsored and other events to drive awareness of the CMO practice.
Contribute to the growth of The CMO Group, part of Forrester’s Leadership Boards, by partnering with Forrester’s advisors in that group and ensuring that the research team provides quality deliverables to its members.
Qualifications
At least 10 years of experience as a consultant, practitioner, or research analyst in the marketing and strategy arena.
Demonstrated marketing and business strategy consulting leadership to senior management and C-level clients.
Deep intellectual curiosity about the effect of technology on the marketing landscape and how senior marketers can integrate technologies across channels and programs; solid business instincts as well as a practical understanding of what makes companies tick and how CMOs operate; and a creative view of markets, technologies, and attitudes combined with a fascination with the future.
At least five years of experience managing high-performing teams.
Strong knowledge of CMO issues and challenges.
A strong record of academic achievement.
Superior analytical, writing, editing, and presentation skills.
The ability to travel 25% of the time or more.
