The INV segment is seeking a Director, Computing & Hardware Security Solutions with a focus on computing and security technologies and solutions for use in the Flex ecosystem. In this position you will support start-ups, large enterprises, market segment specific projects, and internal innovation projects. As a member of the INV team you will play a key role in understanding product requirements and proposing design solutions. You will be helping customers, both internal and external, architect, develop, implement and bring to market new products and system solutions requiring advanced computing and security technology and sub-systems. The expectation that is the candidate’s time will be equally spent between the customer-related and CoE responsibilities. Travel may be required to provide architecture and conceptualizing expertise and input to best practices and support of Flex global design and engineering processes.

Build and lead a virtual global team of the best computing and security engineers and technologists within Flex.
Establish a working and productive relationship with leading universities and third parties, including start-ups, in the industry.
Work with partners and customers on complex system architecture conceptualization to create system requirements from user needs, input/output expectations, functional diagrams and main system (HW and SW) parameters.
Review customer proposals and internal requirements, in depth and work with broader team to drive toward cost effective and TTM solutions.
Mentor and provide guidance to virtual teams of development engineers; managing design parameters and design tradeoff priorities as well as developing internal talent for increasing responsibility.
Develop product and component strategies incorporating state-of-the-art from within the industry as well as within adjacent markets and technologies.
Develop market landscape and report on state-of-the-art and nascent computing and security technologies. Work with Architects and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create technology roadmaps by synthesizing data from a variety of sources including our technology partners, identifying the short-term and long-term technology trends and drivers.
Provide guidance to Flex business units and segments regarding strategic technologies, products, partners and M&A potential within the industry.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Deep and broad system level product development experience (i.e. worked on at least 3 designs that launched into mass production)
Broad experience with x86 architecture, micro architecture and system design
Broad experience with ARM architecture, micro architecture and system design
Good understanding of the business aspects and dynamics of computing sector, market segmentation, technologies and roadmaps
5-7 years’ experience designing high performance AC powered and battery powered microprocessor based systems
5-7 years’ experience designing highly embedded, low and ultra-low power, battery operated systems
3-5 years’ experience designing secure systems (e.g. PCI compliant) including hardware and firmware
3-5 years’ experience in customer facing and supplier facing roles
3-5 years development team leadership and budget management experience (Ideally matrixed and dispersed organizations)
Excellent communications skills (Verbal and written)
Good working knowledge of Linux and embedded operating systems and related s/w stacks, device drivers etc. (C/ C++, bash, python, Lua experience)
Domestic and international travel up to 25%
BS EE/CS, BSEE or BSCS or equivalent (MS preferred)
