NBCUniversal seeks an accomplished professional who has demonstrated expertise and leadership abilities in Data Protection & Governance and related processes. Reporting to the VP of Technology Information Risk Management (IRM), the optimal candidate will possess relevant managerial and leadership level experience from a “Big 4” professional Consulting services firm and/or large commercial enterprise with a mix of information risk management and/or data management consulting experience. This position will assist the VP of IRM with design and development of data protection & governance strategy and program, including program roles, responsibilities, reporting structures in alignment with NBCU’s IRM strategy.

• Design and develop Data Protection & Governance Strategy and Implementation Plan based on leading security and privacy standards and governance frameworks. Continuously shape and enhance the strategic priorities and roadmap of Data Governance.
• Work with VP, IRM to establish underlying roles, responsibilities and reporting structures
• Provide subject matter expertise for data quality, metadata management, data change management and data sourcing.
• Direct, lead and manage a team to deploy the Data Protection & Data Governance Strategy including implementation
• Identify the technology platforms and develop technology strategy to support data management and governance including identifying, categorizing and mapping data flows
• Oversee and develop the process to gather, analyze, and report Technology Privacy Compliance Status, Metrics and KPI’s to VP’s, peers, and senior management.
• Responsible for overseeing development and implementation of information governance toolsets, practices, and policies to analyze and report risks, and to manage information risk faced by the company.
• Lead specific Data Protection advice that will potentially involve liaison with many areas of the business. Will also be involved in the processing of complex Subject Access Requests, the provision of DP and privacy advice/guidance, providing DP Training and support of other staff involved in DP compliance.
• Provide consultative guidance to company’s IT, Legal and security policy development and assess the effectiveness of their design as it relates to information governance and data protection.
• Lead the operationalization of a global privacy risk management framework, focused on aligning policies, procedures and controls with legal and regulatory requirements regarding data privacy in all countries in which NBCU operates.
IRM
• Execute risk management activities in furtherance of the information risk management strategy as it applies specifically to the privacy of personal data created and/or used by NBCU by working in conjunction with the Chief Privacy Officer, Legal and Information Risk Management.
• Direct the team to evaluate risks in business processes and document process steps, underlying technologies, and inventorying structured and unstructured information assets
• Partner with peers to proactively identify, assess, treat and monitor risks related to information and data privacy
Technology
• Work with IT and effectively navigate the company stakeholders to identify and categorize information assets based on criticality and impact to NBCU.
• Understand complex distributed/client server platforms and related applications.
• Partner with IT to evaluate and determine the strategy for DG toolset, and actively contribute towards the direction for DQ capabilities.
• Provide Data Governance expertise on internal and regulatory audits, management action plans as well as other regulatory requirements.
Managerial Responsibilities
• Effectively manages departmental staff on both projects as well as those administratively assigned.
• Effectively performs all HR related company processes such as Performance Appraisals, team mentoring, development planning, Organizational planning, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years of diversified experience including working at “big 4” and/or working in similar capacities at large, complex business organization.
• Solid understanding of Data Protection and Governance concepts with a strong understanding of security frameworks and related data protection and data governance standards, including: NIST, FIPS, ISO, PCI, CERT, NARA, GLBA, GDBR, BCR, EU Data Protection Directive, International Cross Border & US State Data Privacy Laws
• Deep appreciation for various regulatory frameworks as it relates to Sourcing and Third Party Risks.
• Technical skills in using GRC platforms to perform information risk management activities
• Deep experience in risk evaluation, process mapping, data flow mapping and inventorying variety of data including structured and unstructured
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams on large scale information governance initiatives including frameworks, policies, processes and enabling technologies
• Demonstrated leadership qualities to navigate environment to form coalition with stakeholders with a sharp focus on information assets
• Experience using data discovery tools to identify and locate information assets
• Data classification and inventory programs including the use of data discovery and data governance tools
• Experience with privacy and data security controls design and implementation, as well as tool deployment and implementation
• Preferred experience with data protection, governance and big data technologies such as DLP, Data Masking, Encryption, Data Flow Mapping and Data Analytics
