This position oversees the administration of direct compensation (executive, exempt and nonexempt cash compensation programs), providing advice to client groups on pay decisions, policy interpretation and job evaluation. The position monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures, recommending plan revisions as well as new plans that are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends, corporate objectives and compensation philosophy. It formulates the strategy and project management approach in order to achieve project or initiative goals. This position will be also responsible for completing assigned special compensation project work to support certain tactical and strategic business initiatives.

In connection with organizational strategies and in partnership with H.R. generalists, this position designs, plans, and oversees administration of the annual merit, Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP), and Commission programs. It also provides support to the Compensation Department’s Global Equity Team to administer the Long-Term Management Incentive Program (LTMIP). Position partners closely with the senior HR generalists in order to ensure compensation programs are well understood, cost efficient, and effective in achieving the priorities of attraction and retention of top talent.

Utilizing insights from market trends, external data and the Company’s compensation philosophy, provide internal compensation design consulting, technical advice and best practices to SVP Compensation & Benefits and to other Viacom & VMN senior management, as required. Work closely with department peers to share best practices and ensure a consistent approach to compensation design and administration.

Position will be responsible for identification and, as appropriate, development and execution of compensation strategies and program designs that promote the attraction and retention of employees. Position will be responsible for identifying future needs, assessing market trends, defining best practices (internally and externally), evaluating various options and making recommendations to department and Viacom leadership.

Manages salary administration for assigned client groups. Provides insight and guidance on appropriate salary ranges for new or revised open jobs and makes recommendations for contract renewals, contractual merit increases, as well as all adjustments and promotions in assigned client groups.

Oversees analysis of compensation survey responses for assigned client groups and ensures compensation remains competitive to attract, retain and motivate employees.

This position involves managing workflow with a limited amount of supervision, and the ability to strategize and develop revisions and/or enhancements to compensation plans. Responsibilities include fostering trust and building/maintaining solid business relations with HR counterparts, obtaining information from the data collection processes, allocating resources and obtaining/sustaining on-going project and management sponsorship, etc. Position is accountable to senior management on special project deliverables, particularly those relating to the digital space. Position is responsible to manage a lower-level professional employee.

Basic Qualifications

Proven high-level compensation expertise, with previous experience focused on the digital media industry.
Must have thorough working knowledge of the current rules and practices for compensation programs; and be able to apply sound compensation design techniques and principles.
Desire and ability to learn and apply, as appropriate, the latest trends and ideas in the field.
Exceptional interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior management, department colleagues and external contacts.
Ability to work independently, managing workflow and establishing and executing project plans.
Excellent analytical abilities with a clear focus on thoroughness and quality of information, and the ability to identify current and future company requirements.Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and strong presentation skills.Team Player with ability to “flex” to different styles and priorities.
Excellent computer skills (such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Additional Qualifications

JOB EXPERIENCE
Minimum 15+ years of compensation planning, design, strategy development and implementation experience, with recent experience in digital media industry or as a compensation consultant with a focus in the digital media industry.
Experience working with Executive Compensation programs.
Experience working with sales/commission-based incentive plans.
5+ years of supervisory and related project management.

EDUCATION
4 year college degree or equivalent; MBA or Master’s degree a plus.
Background in Business, Mathematics, Economics and/or Psychology preferred.
WorldAtWork’s Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation a plus.
