The API Platform team is looking for a Director of Engineering for their Palo Alto or Seattle office to drive the evolution of the Groupon API into a robust, flexible platform capable of delivering on Groupon's rapid growth in traffic as well as our expanding number of services. You'll be responsible for the design and implementation of solutions which can be leveraged by teams throughout the Groupon tech stack. As a key member of an elite team, your efforts will make a direct impact on the experiences of millions of customers as well as establish the Groupon service platform as a standard of world-class engineering.
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
- Exceptional track record of shipping consumer facing products at top-tier web companies.
- 5 years of experience in leading highly-complex, technically-challenging, cross-functional software oriented projects from inception to delivery in a senior management capacity
- Exceptional technical architect with a penchant to design highly scalable web architectures using Java based stacks
- Deep understanding of how to build scalable distributed systems.
- Passion for leading teams, setting vision, and developing highly functioning organizations.
- A people first leadership mentality and adept at balancing team development and execution of technical charters.
