Leading a team of around 25, s/he will be responsible for supporting the expansion and optimization of these categories for the amazon.ca website, help drive growth, profitability and continuing category leadership strength. In addition, s/he will work closely with the central team teams to develop a comprehensive plan to launch new consumables shopping experiences for Amazon Canada customers.
Key responsibilities will include:
Support the growth and profitability of the Consumables businesses with a view to improving revenue and margin across all levers from selection, inventory levels and promotion to vendor negotiations and operational efficiency
Manage English and French vendors and support existing partnerships in a strategic and competitive manner, unlocking better vendor value
Anticipate customer expectations, changing customer perceptions of online commerce in Canada and share insight with the wider leadership team
Grow the Family, SNS, Coupons and Baby Registry programs in Canada
Create a best-in-class online experience that builds lasting trust with the Canadian consumer
Inspire a motivated and talented team to deliver on its objectives by spreading best practices and helping to address any constraints to growth
Use detailed analytics and technical capabilities to optimize business models and customer experience in these highly differentiated categories
Continue to build an outstanding, world class team driven by teamwork and able to swiftly operate in the highly demanding environment of Amazon.
Lead Canada wide initiatives as needed
Additionally, this leader will be strong at hiring & developing people, working with Chief Operating Officers, Presidents, or Vice Presidents of large, high profile Vendors and Sellers in areas such as strategic planning and contract negotiations, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, innovative, and excel at “thinking big,” while also recognizing the need to coordinate his or her team’s activities within the established structure of a large, fast-growing company. Defining and implementing long term business strategies based on industry trends and competitive analysis and the ability to think outside of the box to solve complex problems are key to success.

Educational Requirements
Bachelors minimum; MBA or further engineering or analytical education will be advantageous.
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
Proven general manager with a successful, resourceful and hands-on track record of running a complex business end-to-end combined with strong P&L experience.
Deep analytical capabilities, potentially (although not necessarily) gained from a background in Consulting, Finance or business transformation.
Technology affinity and track record of employing systems to drive simplification and change.
Demonstrable ability to build lasting relationships and conduct negotiations with leading global and local brands to obtain preferable terms and win:win solutions
Able to balance strategy with strong operational skills - able to understand, deconstruct, streamline and optimize complex, large-scale business processes
Commercially astute, with strong focus and accountability
Excellent business judgment, with a track record of generating ideas and solving problems independently.
