Come help us build the next generation cloud platform to support Internet services across Apple. Our Data Center and Network engineering team evolves, designs, deploys and operates infrastructure which forms the foundation for some of our most exciting services, including Siri, iCloud, Maps, iTunes, and more. The scale at which Apple operates requires the highest levels of automation and tooling from the application through compute and the network, end to end. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to architect, implement, and operate the toolchain and monitoring systems to deliver and operate some of the world's largest-scale cloud services for the most loved devices on Earth.
To qualify for this role, you must have:
5 or more years experience in Linux systems administration.
Expert level knowledge of Linux OS, networking, processes.
Mentor level troubleshooting skills and methods.
Direct experience with scale tools: Puppet, Chef, Git.
Understanding of one or more object oriented languages.
Fluent in at least one scripting language (shell, Python, Ruby, etc).
Some scale experience or understanding of scale problems.
Systems and network monitoring.
Datacenter provisioning and orchestration a big plus.
Whitebox switch experience a big plus.
Strong verbal and written skills.

The Platform Infrastructure Engineering group designs, builds and operates the cloud infrastructure that hosts Apple consumer facing applications. We are looking for an extremely capable tools engineer to join a team of highly experienced and effective engineers who are passionate and creative about delivering service. Challenges of scale are solved through automation, attention to detail, and the strength of a fully integrated data center, network, compute and application stack. Your experience in understanding how tooling and automation are the key enablers to operations at scale, and your willingness to personally support them, will make you a successful candidate.
Education
B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience
