We are actively searching for a Director of Physical Security. This role will report into the Global Head of Corporate Resilience, Safety and Security who also serves as the firm’s Chief Security Officer. In conjunction with the Head of Executive and Event Protection this role will be responsible for leading the global security program and developing the firm’s security program.
The person selected for this role will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the corporate security strategy. This includes operational management and oversight of issues involving security operations, risk assessments, site/building security monitoring, and security control systems.

This position will support our global office footprint and will ensure the security of staff, assets and operations across the region. The position will be responsible for maintaining deep relationships with local and federal law enforcement agencies and ensuring that those relationships exists in locations where we maintain operations.

As a senior member of the CRSS team this position will be required to assist in supporting initiatives across the Security, Business Continuity, Crisis Management and Health & Safety Divisions.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversees the Global Corporate Security program and serves as a security subject matter expert for security issues impacting the firm.
Oversees Regional Security Leads and Security Coordinators (many of whom are shared resources across the Corporate Services organization) and outsourced vendors that provide security services.
Oversees key security program areas including:
Management of security guard operations and vendor oversight
Travel Security
Security Command Centers
Criminal background screening program
Security systems (video, access control, etc.)
Facility Risk Assessments
Responsible to coordinate management of Security Team resources with the Head of Executive and Event Protection. Co-leadership of this team will involve management in a matrix reporting structure.
Works with the Global Head of Health & Safety to ensure that the security team is appropriately coordinating and supporting Health & Safety initiatives.
Ensures BlackRock remains abreast of industry trends and is continuously improving security and life safety processes and practices to mitigate associated risks
Maintains strong ties with Local, State and Government law enforcement officials to ensure BlackRock is able to respond appropriately to local, state or national events or crises
Partners with the Corporate Risk Management team to mitigate risks related to security, life safety or facilities and implement risk reporting tools
Supports Global Real Estate and Design and Construction in the acquisition and development of new properties and the refurbishment of existing facilities
Partners with Facilities and Engineering Heads to ensure global practices are appropriately adapted for local business needs
Meets with clients and regulators to outline the firm’ security standards and demonstrate our compliance and risk management approach around those standards.
Must be available during evenings and weekends to respond to unexpected emergencies and situations at any of BlackRock’s locations globally
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 10 years of progressive advancement in security, life safety or business continuity management
Financial services experience strongly preferred
Experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining a security, life safety or business continuity management program
Strong preference for candidates that have managed Security Command Centers and Security Technology Systems
Knowledge of BCM, security and life safety processes, performance metrics, and cost reduction opportunities
