Director Human Resources Herbalife Torrance

Responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of human resource activities for several Corporate departments including, employee relations, compensation and benefits, staffing (job approval and guidance), employee development, performance management and adherence to employment laws. Acts as a liaison and advisor to senior management/management (up to EVP level and down to supervisor level) for respective departments on all HR-related planning, facilitation, and activities.
Position may also oversee and manage functions and programs such as job descriptions development, employee recognition, HR online website, service awards, and possibly the management of the receptionists/operators. May also direct HR activities and planning for Herbalife manufacturing and distribution centers outside of the Los Angeles area.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Directs HR activities; acts as a coach, strategic advisor and facilitator to department management up to EVP level of the company. Functions as the ‘right-hand’ person to senior management in organizational reviews, learning & development, succession planning, and talent identification.
Provides day-to-day human resource management including recruitment (partnering with the hiring managers in providing input), employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee development, coaching and the adherence to employment laws.
Assists in the recruiting effort for the department he/she is responsible for. Coaches managers on interviewing skills and related talent acquisition activities.
Provides coaching and counseling to management on issues related to employee relations. Includes providing guidance around fair and legal resolutions, preparation of corrective action documents, performance management, investigations, and terminations.
Interprets, explains and ensures adherence to Company and government rules, regulations, and procedures. Advises management on employment law compliance.
Designs, oversees and manages HR programs such as service awards, employee recognition, job descriptions, annual kids’ day and the HR online website.
Provides insight into the business and assists the Compensation & Benefits department in administering compensation and benefit programs including performance management, bonus plans, and other benefits according to the company’s philosophy, budget and applicable laws.
Supports the departments’ future growth and ensures employees receive training and development opportunities. Works with corporate management to motivate employees and identifies organizational performance improvements. Often provides coaching and facilitation.
Maintains all employee files in compliance with Company guidelines and local regulations.
Utilizes HRIS data to proactively monitor staffing, employment activity, turnover and other HR metrics.
Analyzes data and provides strategic advice to department management relating to workforce planning and hiring.
May provide day-to-day guidance and HR advice to HR personnel at Herbalife manufacturing and distribution facilities throughout the US.
May organize and manage the operators/receptionists. May also manage HR staff.
Leads special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:
In-depth knowledge of employment laws and governmental regulations.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and ability to interact at all levels, including SVPs, EVPs and C-levels.
Highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills.
Working knowledge of MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to organize workload for effective implementation.
Strong facilitation skills.
Experience:
10+ years’ HR generalist experience, with at least 3 years of progressive experience managing HR staff
Strong background in California labor laws and regulations.
Education:
Bachelor degree in business or a related field, preferably with a concentration in human resources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong background in labor laws and regulations with demonstrated experience handling difficult employee relations cases.
