Director Domestic Tax Compliance ADP Roseland

Controls and manages all tax compliance for the affiliated group of corporations to ensure the timely filing of all Federal, State and Local corporate income, franchise, business license returns and annual reports. Responsible for developing all tax-related information related to financial reporting for the annual report and SEC filings.
Monitors ADP's corporate legal structure in all states in conjunction with Corporate Legal. Responsible for controlling and managing of the preparation and filing of all benefit plan returns (i.e. VEBA, pension, 401(k), etc.) and the ADP Foundation returns. Monitors tax system automation and maintenance.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



Tax Compliance: (50%)
Independently responsible for the timely and accurate filing of all income tax returns, estimated payments, and extension requests. Reviews completed returns for completeness and accuracy. Also insures proper filing of returns for all benefit plans (VEBA, pension, 401(k) and the ADP Foundation.
Monitors parent/subsidiary legal status in all states, mergers, qualifications, withdrawals, acquisitions and dispositions. Monitors annual report filings.
Evaluates the tax-filing position of potential ADP acquisitions. Participates in due diligence work at the acquisition company. Involved in discussions related to deal structure for tax purposes. Incorporates acquisition company's returns into ADP's returns. Performs and/or monitors pre-acquisition return preparation where necessary.


Financial Reporting: (25%)
Develops all tax-related information related to financial reporting for the annual report and SEC filings. FAS 109, FAS 5 and tax provision preparation and review. Responsible for Federal and State effective tax rate computation, review, modification and discussion with management. Prepare, review and modify FAS 5 exposure analysis for both Federal and State liability.
Compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.


Tax Audits: (10%)
Manages Federal and state income tax audits with the goal of minimizing ADP's tax liability. Negotiates any contested deductions and/or reporting to ADP's favor. Involved in discussions related to state audit settlements with internal ADP associates, outside legal counsel and State revenue department representatives.


Tax Planning: (10%)
Provides analysis of financial data to support tax planning activities. Identify tax saving business arrangements and implement tax favorable planning ideas. Perform "what-if" analysis for assessment of planning alternatives.

Other: (5%)
Daily problem resolution assisting ADP divisions resolving selected tax problems, audits, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Masters Degree in Taxation or CPA is desirable
Experience: Extensive (15 years +) experience in Federal/State/Foreign Corporate tax function. Additional experience required in the accounting field.
Generic Skills: Ability to organize, prioritize and delegate work to meet very specific tax deadlines.
