As a Director of Technical Operations for Manufacturing you will lead both the mechanical and test engineering teams. This position will report directly to the VP of Manufacturing Operations and is responsible for meeting key objectives for product manufacturability, test platform development, supplier technical performance, tooling/part qualification and product defect resolution. This position will collaborate heavily with Hardware Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Production, Supply Chain, Field Deployment and Technical Support teams.
BS Engineering and/or advanced degree preferred
10 years in Manufacturing Engineering or Product Development position, 5 years at a Director level preferred
Highly collaborative, results and metric driven leader who can balance daily tactical activities with longer-term strategic execution
Leadership experience within high volume and routinely innovative product development company
Experience in driving technical improvements with global suppliers and contract manufacturers
Proven track record in developing high performing teams
Preferred Qualifications
Ensure high volume manufacturability and testability of all robotics system products
Ensure supplier partnerships meet technical performance metrics and that tooling and test equipment capacities support volume growth expectations for custom-designed mechanical, electrical, molded products and cable assemblies
Partner with Hardware Engineering to support the scheduled introduction of new products into production ensuring ramp to volume and quality metrics are achieved
Provide direct mentoring of staff to improve knowledge and to facilitate future career growth and professional development
Reinforce culture of trust, innovation, speed, flexibility and continuous improvement
Standardize best manufacturing engineering practices, DFx guidelines, standards, and tools.
Experience with Scrum methodology
International supply base experience in preferred geographies of Asia and Eastern Europe
Robotics manufacturing experience preferred
