Our team partners directly with senior VMware executives to develop long-term strategy and execution plans, and operationalize these plans through financial budgeting across the company – vSphere, NSX, vRealize, vSAN, Horizon, vCloud Air Network, AirWatch and others. Principal Responsibilities
• Assist with senior management’s efforts to maintain a credible, implementable, and sustainable business strategy that creates superior value for VMware.
• Creates and directs the strategic planning process across VMware, including external landscape, internal assessment, prioritization, field alignment and cross-BU portfolio planning
• Help manage the VMware product portfolio and provide frameworks for decisions that affect investments, prioritization and trade-offs
• Orchestrate the translation of strategy into a company-wide financial plan covering the full P&L.
• Lead the creation of key financial planning deliverables including revenue planning, spend planning, company headcount cost bow-wave, capex planning, and financial trade-offs.
• Drive the operationalization of the company-wide financial plan to create and track budgets by function through process and planning system.
• Preparation of senior management and Board of Director materials to gain approval and support of the strategic and financial plans.
• Support annual business reviews and tactical initiatives that cut across multiple VMware groups, identify opportunities for growth, and evolve strategic thinking on the future of VMware’s product portfolio
• Work with the key business leaders across the company to assist in the strategy development for both existing and nascent areas
• Acquire a deep understanding of VMware’s business today, and keen insights into where it is going in the future allowing for innovative concepts and promoting new ideas
Qualifications
• 10 to 15 years of related experience in a senior financial role in a comparable or larger sized public, technology based, growth business
• Self-starter with strong financial, business modeling and analysis skills; sound business judgment
• Ability to work independently across multiple groups in a rapidly changing environment
• Solid project management capabilities; able to work under deadlines to produce key deliverables
• Ability to provide sound business judgment, strategic thinking, and broad financial and business perspective across the organization
• Outstanding financial acumen blended with business partnership and leadership
• Confidence and presence collaborating with and presenting to executive staff
• Ability to sort through complex issues, translate and communicate them in a clear, concise manner and develop appropriate solutions in a timely and responsive manner
• Ability to credibly achieve results through influence and persuasion
• Ability to challenge norms and processes and relentlessly looks for ways to add value and to position the organization for success
Education
An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree is desirable.
