Netflix is seeking a talented Engineering Director to lead the team responsible for building our popular video streaming applications on iOS, Android, and Windows.
Our Mobile Streaming Engineering team is responsible for ensuring that our members are able to stream movies and TV whenever they want, wherever they want, on the most popular phone and tablet devices.

We just expanded our service to over 190 countries throughout the world, and this opens up many unique and exciting challenges ahead of us in streaming to a wide variety of mobile devices everywhere in the world. How do we ensure that customers in India, Russia, Azerbaijan, and every country of the world can enjoy a high quality video streaming experience on their cellular or wireless network? How do we ensure that Netflix works flawlessly on the wide variety of mobile devices used throughout the world? How do we iterate quickly with frequent release cycles, without breaking things for our customers? These are some of the challenges the team is solving.

What You Will Do

We’re looking for someone with strong leadership and communication skills to lead our high-performance engineering teams. You will be relentlessly focused on defining the state of the art for video streaming on mobile devices. You will manage our engineering relationships with partners like Microsoft, Apple, and Google to ensure that we have the features we need on these platforms to deliver a high quality experience to our customers. You will also manage engineering relationships with mobile carriers, OEMs, and SoC vendors to ensure that we can deliver best-in-class streaming video experiences to mobile devices in constrained networking environments.

Key Responsibilities

Building our iOS, Android, and Windows platforms that provide a stable and performant foundation for our dynamic mobile user experiences
Hiring and continuing to grow the team
Defining and executing the strategy for mobile device automated testing
Improving streaming video quality on mobile devices across the world
Working with external OS, OEM, SoC, and carrier partners to ensure we can deliver a state of the art video experience to our members
Working cross-functionally with teams across Netflix to ensure a great mobile experience for our members
Preferred Qualifications

10 years of experience in software engineering with demonstrated experience in building high quality client applications
Demonstrated experience leading fast-paced high-performance engineering teams
Proven instincts about performance, networking, and application architecture
Excellent communication skills and ability to excel in a dynamic, intellectual, results-driven environment
Experience with the techniques used to combat the challenges of mobile networking on battery and resource constrained devices
Experience working with external partners and managing external engineering relationships
A passion for movies and TV and being a part of the team that defines the future of mobile video streaming
