The Global Environment, Health, and Safety Director is responsible for leading Nike Inc.’s. Global Environment, Health, and Safety program. The Global Director will possess advanced knowledge of industry best practices, standards and regulatory requirements. This person will lead develop and maintain the strategic framework for the company’s Environment, Health, and Safety program designed to avoid or minimize negative impact to employees, consumers, business operations, and help ensure safety and continuity of operations in adverse situations.

• Lead and Develop the long term mission and vision of Nike, Inc.’s Global Environment, Health, and Safety Program
• Ensures the development, implementation and sustainment of comprehensive EH&S programs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key EHS Stakeholders globally
• Serves as the liaison with Asia/Pacific, European, United States, and local regulatory agencies.
• Extensive knowledge of global health issues as they relate to the Nike Inc. operations
• Develops and implements strategies to ensure ongoing compliance and continuously drive EHS performance improvement.
• Engages in cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.
• Deep knowledge of EH&S performance measurement systems, tracking, implementation, and progress reporting.
• Lead post safety incident reviews to capture and implement lessons learned.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate will possess and/or be able to demonstrate:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environment, Health, Safety, or related field of study. Relevant Industry certifications preferred (examples include: CSP).
• Medical degree highly preferred
• Extensive knowledge of world health issues and medical trends
• 15 or more year’s professional experience building and leading EH&S programs in a large, global company.
• Success in a matrix-based organization, leading cross-functional teams globally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Leadership skills and the ability to influence others.
• Presentation skills and the ability to translate and present complex issues in an easily understood manner.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint).
• Responsiveness for off-hour, on-call incident management support.
• Ability for global travel, and emergency response
