As a Director of Accounting Operations, you will oversee the accounting function and assist the VP Corporate Controller in the development of organizational strategies for the accounting team in line with corporate objectives. This is a hands on leadership role responsible for building scalable business processes for US and Worldwide accounting operations and ensuring our internal control environment is effective.

The ideal candidate will have prior work experience in both public and private companies with management responsibility. This position reports to the VP Corporate Controller
Key Responsibilities
Manage and improve accounting functions, including oversight of the accounting process and system, including AP, GL and Payroll.
Manage the month-end close process, including oversight of the reconciliation process, review of journal entries and preparation of a monthly close package.
Research, analyze and conclude on technical accounting issues, including the preparation of memorandums regarding the Company’s position in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner
Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits with our external auditors
Coordinate tax compliance and filing with external tax consultants.
Drive change management, lead process improvement and alignment within Finance and cross functional.
Evaluate current system set up and recommend and lead enhancement.
Lead the implementation of best practices in Accounting team to scale with our business and international expansion.
Manage the implementation or optimization of ERP system to drive efficient and effective process.
Work closely with various departments in addressing day-to-day business activities and associated accounting implications and recommend practical solutions associated with the contemplated business transactions.
Collaborate with the VP Corporate Controller to develop and maintain Sugar’s financial accounting policies and standards.
Review internal and external investor financial reporting for completeness, accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
Maintain internal controls over financial reporting.
Partnership and collaboration with peers and business partners to drive timely and accurate financial information.
Participate in special projects, system enhancements or other tasks as assigned by the VP Corporate Controller.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
CPA with public accounting experience is a plus
More than 12 years of relevant work experience
Must have experience working with public company
Experience with major ERP systems, Netsuite experience preferred
Superior communication, organizational, process management and presentation skills, and strong attention to detail
Advanced time-management skills to handle multiple deliverables simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-growth and rapidly changing environment.
