Job Description:
The Multicultural Marketing team is part of the marketing department of Universal Pictures. The team is responsible for engaging across all disciplines of film marketing to identify, refine, develop and integrate tactics and materials to enhance and enrich outreach to Hispanic and African-American audiences. The position reports to the SVP, Multicultural Marketing
The Director of Multicultural Publicity and Promotions will oversee the strategic development and provide hands-on support in, but not limited to: Hispanic and AA film publicity, field, word-of-mouth outreach, grassroots events, digital publicity and social influencer/content creator executions. This includes management of external partners that assist in executing long lead and in-campaign television and digital outreach, talent appearances, junket and premiere exposure, major national efforts in Miami (Hispanic) and Atlanta (African American), screenings and local activations.

Exceptional communication skills at all management levels is crucial. On a daily basis, the individual in this position will be someone that can take initiative with minimal direction, have the ability to seek out information from various sources and have exceptional follow through.

Essential Responsibilities:
Lead all multicultural publicity and promotions efforts towards an Hispanic and African American film audience
Manage hired Hispanic and African American publicity agencies including sharing strategy and direction, maintaining constant communication on major executions and providing overall day-to-day direction.
Work in partnership with individual Publicity and Field teams to develop movie-specific publicity strategies driven from multicultural consumer insights
Act as a resource to Publicity teams to identify, initiate and drive new multicultural-leaning publicity opportunities
Have a robust understanding and maintain communication and relationships with all key Hispanic and African American publicity partners and media outlets
Cover set visits, PA tours, Miami/Atlanta press days, junkets, premieres, events, local activities, college activations, screenings, as needed
Maintain detailed documentation of all multicultural publicity activities across every title for internal and filmmaker-facing reports, breaks, coverage and recaps
Maintain/update databases, including media and promotional partner lists, WOM contacts, and vendor database
Monitor and inform team on new and upcoming multicultural opportunities, in addition to recommending innovative campaign solutions
Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of marketing experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in the entertainment industry, in theatrical publicity/marketing
Strong experience in developing and executing multicultural (Hispanic, African American and/or Asian) marketing strategies
Experience working with multiple departments, agencies, etc.
Working knowledge of Microsoft-based software: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong organization and communication skills are required to interface effectively with internal and external parties.

Desired Characteristics
Self-motivated and comfortable working both autonomously and within a small team
Strong analytical skills and a broad understanding of movie marketing disciplines
A degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or English is preferred
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
