Job Description:
We are looking for a talented person who is passionate about gaming to provide daily team leadership for one of our teams. We believe that the key factor for successful leadership for the Development Director (DD)is the ability to form a healthy tug-o-war partnership with the producer (product owner) for your area of the project.
We call it creative tension, to neither blindly try to deliver the producers needs nor just saying what we can’t do but to utilize your own and your teams’ experience to push back, giving alternatives and options to what we actually can deliver.
Key Responsibilities
The DD is responsible for the planning of time, resources and organization for their area of responsibility throughout the whole product cycle. Also, the Project manager is responsible for presenting options and drives decision making in their area, i.e., given time and resources point out what is possible and make sure decisions are made in a timely fashion by the right stake holders so that progress is maintained. In tracking progress you are not just satisfied with task completion but require and push for quality while still caring for and protecting your team.
What skills does DICE look for?
We believe that the successful candidate has proven leadership skills and desire to lead. At least 5+ years of experience; 4 years of leadership experience; strong negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills; effective communication skills across all levels of an organization; ability to motivate and inspire team. We think that you have a background in Computer Science, Production or equivalent. You have a firm understanding of the disciplines and skills required to make a game.
We Believe That You Are Comfortable And Have Experience Working With (or Equivalent)
· Agile development, using Scrum/Kanban/Lean
· Project development with emphasis on team empowerment
· Perform and act on Retrospectives
· Risk analysis and mitigation techniques
· Tools, e.g. Jira, HanSoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Perforce, etc.
