Director Software Engineering EMC Marlborough

Job Description:
Responsible for the design development and implementation of complete Engineering Technical Publications projects and programs. Directs and provides professional leadership of a broad functional area possibly through managers and senior managers and has high level authority over planning. Develops long range plans and creates specific strategies to achieve goals. Responsible for establishing objectives for product and/or project groups and manages these groups to ensure that goals are met within specified timeframe and products/projects meet quality standards. Anticipates future needs and initiates the design and development of new approaches to engineering processes. Authorizes the resources necessary to achieve organizational goals.
Establishes strategic plans that may impact the entire organization or company. Participates in and is accountable for cross functional initiatives and collaboration which may have significant impact on business results. Often interacts with EMC executives and/or customers conducting briefings or technical meetings. Typically manages multiple teams in multiple disciplines. May have budgetary responsibility.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serves as technical consultant and technical leader sphere of influence may include people outside of EMC. Develops and provides challenging yet appropriate assignments evaluates work communicates progress toward career development and goals. Anticipates future business needs makes decisions and implements policies that affect areas of the company outside their own functional area. Participates in corporate strategy development through advocacy for programs and projects within their functional area. Uses independent judgment to develop strategic vision within functional area implements operational policies and directives communicates progress toward goals and objectives. Provides innovative solutions to unusually complex and sensitive problems requires ingenuity and creativity. Participates in and is accountable for cross functional initiatives and collaboration which may have significant impact on business results.
