Job Description:
The Director of Strategy, Operations and Planning is responsible for providing strategic and operational support to the Rinat CSO and site leadership team by translating the CSO's scientific strategy into tangible executable business plans. This position will report to the Executive Director, Portfolio and Business Operations and will work closely with the ORRD Chief of Staff and the HR Advisor Lead to develop and execute on exemplary organizational and communication strategies both within and outside the unit. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Rinat LT.

he Director will also be a core member of the ORRD Portfolio and Operations community, and will be expected to understand all elements of the Portfolio & Business Operations Function so as to leverage resources across ORRD and Pfizer to support the Rinat portfolio and ensure delivery of specific requests to Rinat from zone leadership. This role will represent Rinat to execute on ORRD-wide portfolio and resource planning that optimizes operational effectiveness within Rinat ensuring strong partner line communication to enable optimized support models for the Rinat portfolio.

This ideal candidate must be able to identify, analyze gaps and opportunities for operational improvement and develop tangible plans to optimize scientific and portfolio delivery at Rinat. He/she anticipates, identifies, understands, engages in and supports the prioritization of issues and opportunities within the RU, across the zone and with partner lines to ensure these initiatives are compatible with Rinat's operating structure and are communicated in a timely and effective manner to drive colleague engagement and alignment.

Responsibilities
Support day-to-day activities of the CSO of the Rinat RU to maximize productivity of the group. Help the CSO to build a highly integrated, high performance culture that spans throughout Rinat and across ORRD. Provides a senior business and operational advisory role to the CSO and the Rinat LT.

Coordinate rapid, thoughtful responses to requests received from all sources (ORRD Zone Head, ORRD Chief of Staff, WRD President, colleagues, external proposals, etc.). Develop/leverage key relationships both within Rinat and across the zone and other key stakeholders to enable strong ongoing communication plans and effective change management. Coordinate, track and summarize key internal and external scientific/business events and developments relevant to the RU in order to drive messaging and actions of the Rinat CSO.

Use sound judgment and knowledge of the key issues to manage agenda planning and preparations for Rinat LT and project governance. Coordinate and prepare monthly internal briefing materials and crisp executive summaries for the Head of ORRD Zone as requested. Assume primary responsibility to plan and document Rinat strategies during the annual business planning process and coordinate with the Executive Director of ORRD Portfolio & Business Operations. Partner with Sr. Director of ORRD Business Analytics to conduct rapid analyses as needed to support and execute on the Rinat strategy, e.g., resource and portfolio analysis, benchmarking, etc. Work closely with the CSO to implement a coherent strategy for external spending and ensure delivery of value.

Apply technical/scientific knowledge by participating in scientifically oriented initiatives/ teams to support and influence the future direction of Rinat and ORRD, and report progress to the CSO.

Participate in and shape the strategic planning efforts of the Oncology RU in coordination with key stakeholders within the RU and in the portfolio group, finance, HR, strategic planning teams, and partner lines. This position will also be responsible for supporting Rinat during annual goal setting and business planning - budget planning and tracking, and ad hoc strategic initiatives. This role will work closely with the Executive Director of Portfolio and Business Operations to optimize the key interfaces with Partner Lines, identify resource gaps and develop and execute plans to support the Rinat portfolio.

Enhance clarity of objectives, ensure robust meeting planning/preparation, accelerate response times and maximize efficiency

Work closely with operations and finance partners to optimize use of Rinat/Zone budget, assess group capacity, Partner with Portfolio and Operations team to coordinate/optimize interfaces with partner lines as needed. Partner with Sr. Director of Vivariam Operations and other Rinat operational teams to support delivery of site operations as needed.

*Collaborate with ORRD RU Operation Leads and WRD resource planning functions (WRD Bus Ops, Oncology BU, WRD partner lines, etc.) to optimize and influence operational improvements and effectiveness. Represent Rinat as technical expert on cross-line operational teams.
*Provide strategic, operational and communications support to the Executive Director of Portfolio & Business Operations ORRD for key business strategies, operational planning, and annual business plans.
*Lead and provide key technical expertise to ORRD cross-functional teams to enhance business objective clarity, engagement, and organizational efficiency; anticipates and identifies the prioritization of opportunities and issues and owns resolution.
*Responsible to lead and/or participate as key technical expert in continuous improvement initiatives, and make practical and effective recommendations to bring together appropriate resources and best practices to the issue.
*Creates an environment that encourages and instills the desired cultural mindset including efficient decision-making, empowerment, flexibility, optimization of resources, and strong execution.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ph.D. in relevant scientific discipline and/or MBA equivalent degree; position requires at least 10+ years of experience in drug discovery and development with demonstrated success leading and participating in multi-disciplinary teams.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
*Established track record of working with Senior Leaders and distilling complex business problems into decisionable recommendations
*Experienced in change management with strong oral and written communication skills with experience in communicating complex business concepts to scientific staff.
*Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills required; financial expertise that should include the assessment, management and constant efforts to maximize operational effectiveness.
*Demonstrated ability to interpret scientific strategy within the context of complex business drivers and develop strategic recommendations that drive effective decision-making.
*Ability to navigate across Pfizer to achieve business unit objectives
*Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to lead through influence
*Proactive self-starter with comfort working autonomously
*Strong project and program management skills, including change leadership
*Must have proven ability to manage complex situations in a matrix organizational structure through the participation in or leadership of cross-functional teams, together with strong team membership skills.
*Demonstrated business acumen and strategic thinking abilities
