Director Strategic Alliances CAS Columbus

Job Description:
The Director of Strategic Alliances works with internal and external leadership to affect collaborations that will drive the next phase of CAS offerings and growth. The incumbent will establish collaborative relationships with key businesses in the US and abroad. The incumbent will identify and prioritize potential partners, lead exploratory discussions, evaluate opportunities and negotiate business agreements. The incumbent will also develop partnerships that may involve, content, intellectual property, process, marketing and technology components.

This is a highly matrix oriented role, accountable for working closely with others in the innovation organization as well and CAS senior leadership, product, technical and legal teams.



Key Accountabilities

Identify, cultivate and evaluate partnerships. Develop and implement a strategic approach for assessing and prioritizing partnership opportunities and investment initiatives.
Manage the end-to-end process of partnership development by aligning needs, coordinating requirements, negotiating contracts and integrating contracts with CAS internal teams.
Work closely with a variety of cross-functional teams through all aspects of idea generation, sourcing partner targets, development of the business case, financial modeling, and negotiation and integration activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Experience in a scientific research environment
Ability to develop senior level relationships, experience and established relationships in the Life Sciences field is highly desired. Demonstrated experience in partnership/business development
Distinctive problem-solving, strategic and analytical capabilities
Demonstrated experience in leading through influence
Previous experience in licensing, venture investing, or assessing partnership opportunities.
Relationship management experience
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, with potentially conflicting priorities.
Creative thinker, resourceful

Ability to negotiate and influence
Excellent networking and interpersonal skills
High degree of integrity and honesty

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree required. MBA and/or advanced degree in Life Sciences in highly preferred.
5+ years of experience working in a scientific research organization or an organization that supports scientific research.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks with the ability to meet stated deadlines
Must possess analytical and problem solving skills
Demonstrated high competency for organizational skills and attention to detail
Must be able to work independently and within a team; characterized by being self-sufficient and self-motivated
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to collaborate and be creative with a professional and positive approach
