Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Information Officer, the Director of Business & Clinical Intelligence is responsible for providing Springfield Clinic with the data warehouse, reports, dashboards, and analytics that are needed to support accurate decision making at all levels of the Clinic.
Responsible for enabling the Clinic's transition from Fee For Service to Value-Based Payment models by providing required analytics in the domains of Clinical Quality/Outcomes, Population Health Management, Business/Operations, and Administrative BI.
Principal Responsibilities
Design, propose, and implement application solutions that address legitimate business process needs with the tools, technology and applications to assess clinical, financial and administrative data on a timely basis.
Define clinical and business intelligence strategy and plan in context with population health management and execute them efficiently.
Manage and review system utilization, error and turn around reports.
Ensure accuracy of system database and maintain updated information.
Assess user needs and provide feedback to management and/or vendor for future product growth and development.
Assist in the development of departmental and institutional policies and procedures associated with multiple departments.
Analyze, design, code and test program logic to meet required end user specifications.
Analyze requirements for information within the Clinic and determine the method of obtaining and presenting the information to meet the needs of Clinic physicians and staff.
Manage the Business and Clinical Intelligence employees by setting goals & priorities with the department staff.
Work with multiple departments including but not limited to Providers, QM, ASC, Operations, Managed Care, HR and Finance.
Manage on-going training initiative for new personnel and system upgrades.
Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills
Four years college level training in computer science, database structure, and/or programming: or five years of equivalent work related experience.
Strong understanding of data warehouse technologies-database concepts, database technologies (SQL, Oracle, OLAP, etc.), ETL and reports.
Broad knowledge of database concepts and computer business applications is highly preferred. The data prepared along with expense/cost accounting information is essential to improve productivity, profitability and to make market decisions.
Previously has managed business intelligence or decision support team, strategies for healthcare organization.
Strong understanding of healthcare data (patient, population, finance, population management, coding, etc.).
Ability to translate non-technical user requirements into business and clinical business applications.
Demonstrate proficient knowledge and experience with LAN based application development tools, preferably but not limited to Microsoft Visual Basic and Access. Strong quantitative skills including statistics use of analytical tools.
Knowledge of finance and operational data as well as strong computer skills as stated.
This is a visible and challenging position requiring strong leadership, communication and good interpersonal skills, ability to function in a fast paced, short deadline environment and the ability to come up with innovative cost-effective decisions.
Ability to provide reliable transportation to commute between Clinic facilities as required.
