Senior Director Components David Yurman New York City

Job Description:
Spearhead strategies for the sourcing of all raw materials for the Silver, Men’s, and Gold business categories including new materials to support R&D work. Ensure continued supply of materials used in DY product. Develop strong vendor relationships with DY strategic partners and insure on time delivery. Consistently evaluate current and future needs for development and production to ensure a stable product flow and supply base with a continuous focus on improving margin. Create consistent and efficient processes and function for the DY component business.

Responsibilities
Sourcing/ Vendor Strategy
Develop, communicate and uphold sourcing strategy. Present risks, issues and potential solutions to Sr. Management. Rationalize supplier base where needed


Source and approve new suppliers for core items and new components as needed
Ensure that components are set up with the optimal method of supply (Direct, self, DY) and support company strategy for balance and transfer
Consistently aware of market trends in order to provide the best pricing and sourcing strategy
Ensure maintenance of vendor relationships with prompt communication, accurate data and ensure team preparedness for all meetings/shows.
Costing

Actively work to decrease cost
Creation of cost savings initiatives and drive continuous progress and update from team
Suggest new initiatives, determine supplier impact and work internally and externally to resolve.
Approve and perform price comparisons and show pricing,
Active negotiation of all costing parameters
New Product/Materials

Partner with verticals and components team subject matter experts to direct all new material/vendor exploration. Collaborate with Product Development team to guarantee the quality and durability of new products.
Attend all Design meetings and contribute subject matter expertise to influence decision making.
Spearhead special component exploration projects for Design
Ensure creation and approval of quality standards for oversees vendors/review and sign off on all stones going out. Work with QC, Graders and external suppliers to ensure standards are upheld
Data/Reporting

Serve as the components lead on the ERP implementation team. Help to design, configure, implement and maintain the system and supporting processes.
Ensure component data accuracy and timing (item characteristics, source and vendor specific information)
Ensure all planning parameters are accurate in cooperation with procurement team
Creation of departmental dashboards to motivate team and report on progress
Direct the creation and communication of all component related reporting
Staff

Manage and guide staff
Optimize performance and efficiency of team functions
Support Education on component specifics within and outside the component organizations
Responsible for the communication and alignment with BKK gemstone personnel.
Inventory/Product

Partner with Procurement to own DY corporate component inventory
Ensure the QC of all product entering the component group.
Work with excess inventory to use or accurately disposition.
Ensure proper inventory processing and counting methods are maintained (product and paperwork)
Diamonds

Review all stock purchases for Bridal and Melee for pricing, needs, sources and timing
Ensure the daily review of MRP requirements and planned purchases of diamonds.
Ensure the productivity and responsiveness of the Diamond Room
Own inventory
Metal

Manage any metal accounts in support of over-all strategy
Create, enforce and refine metal purchasing strategy for efficiency and cost internally and externally


Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications

Strong Communication Skills
15-20 years’ experience in procurement or related jewelry areas
Experience in managing strategy and personnel
Advanced Excel Skills
Extensive experience in MRP demand purchasing and planning
Career history demonstrating progression in team leadership and building cross functional partnerships
Ability to manage complex multiple priorities within tight timelines
Extensive experience in pricing of metals and metal components
Ability to perform financial analysis and develop business strategies
Jewelry background in silver and gold
Strong mathematical skills
PLM experience desirable

Education

Four year college degree
