Director Software Development Middleware API T-Mobile Atlanta

Job Description:
The Director, Software Development will establish and drive a world class IT Development organization. Create the strategy and roadmap for the development of applications focused on core Middleware technologies and responsible for growing the T-Mobile USA API Program. Define the strategy and execute a plan for the portfolio of critical enterprise systems to achieve functional, performance, and integration validation that continually improves efficiency of new capabilities across T-Mobile Enterprise IT.
The Director will lead the strategic and financial relationship for key contract labor/managed service providers while ensuring high quality SDLC functions with a regular contingent labor force of approximately 200 workers, as well as lead approximately 25 FTEs. The Director will manage a budget of roughly $50 million including OPEX and external capital projects.

Responsibilities
Develop strategy, roadmap, and software for migration to SaaS, PaaS, and cloud based technologies.
Define modernization and/or operational roadmaps for multiple Middleware and API technologies.
Lead a strong development team to improve integration of complex packaged applications.
Coordinate with Business Solution Directors to develop software that interacts effectively with the business and application support and infrastructure teams to deliver sound robust solutions.
Increase the speed and effectiveness of rollouts allowing T-Mobile to make business adjustments more rapidly.
Partner with the Testing and Support Teams during all stages of development to ensure 100% uptime.
Build, manage and motivate a high caliber, team-oriented IT Development organization that promotes excellence and rewards results.
Direct team toward using industry best practices for all aspects of the SDLC, specifically Agile and Waterfall.
Establish and implement knowledge based processes and methodologies that utilize industry standards like CMMI, ISO, ITIL, Six Sigma, etc.
Ensure management and development teams are staffed with talent that is required to enhance existing systems as well as deliver new system functionality required by the business.
Recommend and implement new technology directions for a large array of systems and applications in collaboration with Design and Enterprise Architecture teams.
Constantly improve the development process, tools and methodologies used in the development group for a wide range of systems and applications.
Lead teams for delivery of high quality products on time and within budget.

Qualifications

While the quality and accomplishments of a person’s career will be the determining factor, the finalist must have the following requisite qualifications:


Strong leader holding multiple vendor relationships to high levels of quality development, including managed services.
Experience with DevOps and Continuous Delivery is desired.
Experience with TIBCO, Apigee, and Oracle IDM product suites is desired.
Perform role of change agent and transformational IT leader with a focus on improving speed to delivery.
Provide influence across the organization.
Extensive experience with Agile and Waterfall SDLC methodologies.
Strong development leader who can effectively collaborate with the support team.
Experience working in growth environments and a proven change agent.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a large and organizationally complex technology staff and collaborate productively with other parts of the organization.
Ability to understand the business needs through collaboration with Business Solution Directors who work directly with the business.
Strong skills in negotiating services and software agreements with software and service vendors.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, regardless of audience, medium, or forum.
Decisive leader who is able to move business forward quickly while balancing time, cost, and quality.
