Job Description:
As Director of Product Manager for the User platform you will be responsible for guiding the long-term product plan as well as short-term integrations with key internal and external strategic partners. You will work closely with the business, product and platform teams to communicate how the User platform will need to adapt to meet their needs as well as the growing payments ecosystem. What will you do? Define and deliver a product roadmap that supports your internal and external business partners, provide feedback to validate and guide feature releases. Serve as an internal catalyst for mobilizing cross-functional teams to adopt new ideas and strategies around identity in order to support short- and long-term strategic objectives in a viable way that extends the User platform. Work in collaboration with product, program and development leaders to guide the three-year roadmap for the User platform pinpointing new User platform requirements, features and policies. Leverage PayPal’s global payments and identity capabilities to facilitate new product solutions for key strategic partners and as well as new business models to drive growth and engagement. Manage a talented team of technical product managers through the agile software development lifecycle using a variety of methodologies including scrum/agile processes.
Oversee enterprise-level product planning including identifying new opportunities as well as maintaining a rolling roadmap of projects or iterations. Ensure your team delivers quality requirements/customer stories that capture an impactful scope of work that are scalable, performant and meeting internal milestones. Act as a leader and evangelist for your team’s products within the company, the external market and on standard committees and boards.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will
Demonstrate strong technical background in linear and non-linear database structure and technology.
Hands-on experience in database design and best practices around cloud-based scalable solutions.
Familiarly with large scale enterprise-level database technology such as Amazon Simple, Oracle and big data solutions such as Hadoop and MongoDB.
Proven track-record in being the primary business and technical product interface and central point of coordination in the definition and execution of products through their lifecycle.
Be a champion of analytics using data to inform but not drive decisions.
Contain an in-depth understanding of the macro landscape including the various types of product offerings in the market and key players.
Be a strong leader with ability to challenge and grow a healthy senior product management team working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Have proven ability to develop strong alliances with your counter parts to ensure the success of your platform; this includes product, development, business partners, strategic partners, etc.
Have the ability to manage technology initiatives simultaneously throughout an agile software development lifecycle.
Be clear, crisp communicator, who can convey effectively across all levels of a business. Have the ability to persuade others to do what is right for the customer and the company.
Be a visionary who is creative and entrepreneurial who can take leaps of faith and wear multiple hats.
Be a strategic thinker able to go deep into technology and relate technical enhancements to customer use cases.
Requirements:
A global perspective to the role, with a strong understanding of the digital identity and databases including a baseline familiarity with consumer and social platforms and mobile technologies.
5-7 years experience building and managing product teams that design and deliver enterprise-level User platforms.
Demonstrated success in working within cross functional teams and effective and analytical/decision-making skills.
Ability to lead decision making conversations about ownership, funding, creating, managing and maintaining shared services.
A strong track record of delivering high quality technology products/services in a very high growth environment where priorities and structures shift rapidly.
Direct experience working with product, technology and standards committees on product platforms, strategic planning and new business opportunities.
Required Education:
BSc. or Bachelor Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent preferred
Advanced technical degree, MBA or equivalent a strong plus
