Senior Director Software Engineering Architecture Cisco San Jose

Job Description
The Senior Director of Development will be an action-oriented, disruptive, and innovative leader responsible for the software architecture, engineering, integration and innovation of our Services software portfolio. The role is based in Cisco’s San Jose (California) headquarters campus.

Software, Analytics and Knowledge Management are at the heart of our Smart Services value proposition. Our ability to capture and re-use “knowledge” from our customer and internal interactions across all modalities is a core differentiator for Cisco Services.
The intellectual capital team is at the heart of capturing and codifying “knowledge” across all services offers which is at the core of the services value proposition. We have a unique opportunity to define and execute an IC strategy which leverages internal human, machine to machine and external knowledge sources to create an unparalleled source of real time actionable insight for all Cisco Services offers.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional core stakeholders within both infrastructure engineering as well as hosted application SW engineering, to lead the technology direction, facilitate key technical decision points, and take the architecture specifications into working engineering outcomes
• Interface with multiple engineering groups in Cisco, who are responsible for developing the infrastructure and software products that are used to build and operate our service delivery platforms
• Ability to commit to road maps with capabilities and timelines, with a proven track record for new product and technology evaluation and introduction
• Align technology to business strategy, and proactively drive a technical direction throughout the organization
• Manage multiple teams consisting of both contract and full time employees and senior level technical individuals
• Document and comply with quality processes following a CI/CD methodology

Requirements

• 10+ years’ proven experience in infrastructure, software engineering leadership roles
• Strong engineering delivery and execution track record, with proven experience around design concepts, development, integration, testing, etc
• Ability to attract talent, inspire the organization, and develop the next generation of leaders
• Ability to build trusting, meaningful relationships with peers, stakeholders, partners and suppliers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical influencing, conflict management, negotiation, public presenting
• Full commitment to customer satisfaction and the highest ethical standards
• Identify and drive innovation in Cisco products, services, solutions, technologies, and processes
• Strong business acumen and industry insight, thought leadership
• Leadership skills to include coaching/mentoring, critical thinking, facilitation, change leadership, and team development
• Thorough understanding of scale-out software architectures for on premises and cloud hosted environments across all layers (infrastructure, security, compliance, operations, service support, integration architecture, SP/Enterprise IT architectures, and software life cycle management)
• Ability and willingness to travel globally as required

Technical Knowledge

• Software development and overall automation including Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, Continuous Integration, build and test automation, orchestration/fulfillment, assurance, performance
Relevant experience in large-scale application architecture/design, middle ware architecture, integration architecture, application deployment methods, automation, testing, compliance, auditing
• Service-oriented architecture for highly available cloud-hosted services, including the transformational elements (‘Infrastructure/Platform/Software-as-a-service’), management and automation (‘self-service, on-demand’), multi-tenancy
• Middleware services including data-driven services, messaging, API management, container technologies
• Core infrastructure networking technologies, including network, compute, storage, physical engineering
• Security (IAM, intrusion detection/prevention, admin access, FW, access control, DDoS, ISO27001, HIPPA, PCI)

Education

Master’s degree preferred
