Job Description
1)OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:
Directs the overall function of the seat design and development group. Oversees daily activities in product design. Responsible for standardization, quality of designs, manufacturability of seats and seat components, and maintaining design schedules.

2)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A)Involvement in preparing technical proposal and design reports (DR).
B)Support sales and marketing with our customer request for quotation (RFQ) and estimate the engineering effort and budget.


C)Interfaces with airframe manufacturer, vendors and customers and government agencies (FAA, CAA etc.) for various projects.
D)Review ongoing design programs for adherence to established budgets and schedules. Allocate manpower as required to maintain on-time schedules.
E)Plan and control awarded programs with the available talent and ensure that projects proceed per customer requirements conforming to aircraft manufacturer specification and regulations.
F)Assure that high level accuracy, quality and safety is maintained at all times.
G)Ensure adequate resources are available to support the programs utilizing SIOP.
H)Coordinate with peers and members of other departments and provide support.
I)Assists engineering design teams in effort to solve design problems.
J)Attends production status meetings.
K)Attends program management milestone review meetings.
L)Chairs or attend engineering meetings as required.
M)Leads design standardization effort.
N)Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A)Knowledge and skills:
i.)Must have strong knowledge of CAD, CATIA strongly preferred and understand their relationship to mechanical drafting and design.
ii.)Must have the ability to plan and think strategically and resolve problems.
iii.)Requires the ability to communicate and work effectively with subordinates, peers, and supervisors.
iv.)Must have effective interpersonal skills, good command of written and verbal communication skills.
v.)Experience with capacity planning and employee deployment processes and tools (mechanical or aerospace strongly preferred).

B)Education and/or Experience:
vi.)Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
vii.)Plus requires a minimum of 10 years related product design experience, with 5 of those years in managerial experience required.

Qualifications

C)Communication Skills: Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment. Ability to read and review written communication. Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
D)Reasoning Ability: Ability to think strategically.

4) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors, and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, typing, ten key, fax, copy machine etc. Bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.
