The Director of Design Engineering, Automotive will oversee all product development and design engineering activities for NAFTA customers through effective management of engineering resources within the global Automotive engineering organization.
Generate and enhance both new and existing customer relationships and business opportunities in the NAFTA region. Support executive management initiatives.
Strategic Business Development Tasks
Develop Automotive business development strategy and target customer portfolio for the NAFTA region
Enhance existing and create new customer relationships
Generate engineering driven business opportunities and manufacturing revenues
Increase margin beyond EMS reference level
Understands and exceeds automotive customer needs and expectations
Support developing product and technology roadmaps for the automotive design sites of Jabil
Clearly understands all operational elements of Jabil business
Good commercial knowledge – able to create business plans
Good knowledge about automotive specific supply chain characteristics
Understands automotive specific quality systems and procedures especially ISO 16494, AQP, and PPAP
Lead automotive specific risk management
Tactical Business Development Tasks
Build customer relationships to win design and manufacturing projects
Provide and lead marketing and technical sales for engineering services, design driven products, and IP
Support quoting process
Operational Tasks
Initiates, develops, and implements policies, procedures, and programs
Monitors status of all NAFTA automotive related projects – responsible for escalation
Drives integration with automotive BUs, SCM, and sales to offer end to end solutions and improve customer satisfaction
Hold design site leaders accountable for developing talent including deep technology expertise and leadership skills
Organizational structure, staffing, and succession planning where relevant.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

15+ years experience in Automotive B2B area
10+ years experience in engineering management
Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time

Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Plus a minimum of 8 years experience required; MSEE, MBA preferred
2 or more years of project management experience strongly encouraged
