Job Description
As the Strategy & Business Operations (SBO) Sr. Development Director, you’ll work with multiple internal & external partners leading and managing the delivery of multiple projects and systems, ensuring that the best user experience is built and enjoyed by our internal customers. Key responsibilities include driving software development practices and quality assurance excellence throughout the SBO Tech development team. Critical to this role will be the ability to build, maintain, and automate our development efforts in order to scale capacity to support online operational efforts.
The SBO Sr. Development Director is a vocal member of the SBO Tech leadership team, partnering with Vice President, Technical Director and Senior Directors to shape the values of the organization and its strategic objectives.
We are looking for someone who actively contributes to the vision of SBO and brings program and Agile project management expertise to the table. First and foremost, strong leadership is essential for this role. Knowledge of the online space is required as is experience in mature software development practices for large globally distributed teams. Lastly, the SBO Sr. Development Director is the program management expert of the SBO Tech team and is expected to help deliver the SBO technical roadmap across the broader Global Operations business unit.
Responsibilities
Proficient in managing distributed development, including external developers, across various geographic locations to deliver on-time and to EA quality standards
Oversees all internal and external project dependencies, risks and critical paths; Ensures contingency plans are in place; Recommends solutions and approves plans & timelines; understands overall impact on all stakeholders
Responsible for ensuring all programs and projects include defined success metrics/KPIs and that they are met for in the final delivery
Expert in identifying and establishing software development practices, standards, and improvements across engineering and testing disciplines for SBO Tech
Proactively manages, communicates, and resolves risks, issues, and mitigation to ensure on-time delivery of all project/program deliverables to SBO leadership
Drives conflict resolution for the good of the team, project, and business efficiently and effectively
Audits the completion of all major project milestones, to quality, of both the internal SBO tech team as well as any 3rd party developer
Defines Configuration Management, Automation and Operational strategies in partnership with the SBO Technical Director
Ensures change management processes and tools are in place to communicate changes that threatens project deliverables; audits team health and ensures that any concerns to changes are addressed and communicated to SBO leadership
Required Technical Skills And Experience
8+ years game, web, or platform software development experience
10 years project management expertise, including 3-5 years in a program manager role
Experience delivering 2-3 large scale enterprise projects and/or systems
Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) and/or certified Scrum Master (CSM) required
Prior experience as a Development Director II required
Demonstrated knowledge of effective software development methodologies and quality assurance practices with a thorough understanding of all phases of the software development lifecycle
Excellent detail-oriented, problem solving skills. Candidate must be able to quickly identify issues and resolve them
