Director Technical Business Development Healthcare Diagnositcs Jabil San Jose
Job description
Purpose
This role will have primary responsibility for formulating and executing on the strategy to grow the business for the Diagnostic business within Jabil’s Nypro Healthcare segment that includes analytical lab equipment, analytical instrumentation, ultrasound, diagnostics, and other healthcare products.
Success will be measured by meeting specific business wins and growth objectives for the segment at target customers as well as longer-term financial metrics including increased revenues and operating margins within the group of customers.
The Individual Will Have The Following Responsibilities
Have deep technical knowledge in the analytical lab equipment, analytical instrumentation, diagnostics and other healthcare product categories.
Understand and translate the trends (industry, regulatory, product, and technology), value chain, and unmet customer needs/value innovations/voice of customer, competitive landscape and key customer directions into actionable and strategic activities to drive both incremental and disruptive differentiating capabilities and new business opportunities within the sectors supported.
Work with sales, proposal team, supply chain, consumable, design and BU management to develop and execute on customer penetration strategies, in-depth customer product analysis, develop proposals to close new design & assembly business within the segment.
Lead design opportunities and projects until customer opportunity is established. Direct and manage support staff (Technical PM/Technical BUM) in building technical proposals, SOW, and project plans. Remain engaged as required by the project team.
Act as point of escalation for all technical issues in business development, manufacturing operations, and design and development.
Work with BU and proposal team to negotiate design service agreements, contracts, etc with customers.
Keep wide radar screen view for new customers/start-ups or new technologies entering the space.
Lead strategic initiatives and deep dives with core team to translate knowledge into required capabilities/gaps. Develop business, financial plans and ROI analysis for investments.
Define key capabilities and skills that are required to penetrate the sectors/product domains and work within Jabil corporate as well as sector site infrastructure and business unit management to develop/acquire these skills.
Develop service, product, process, platform, and technology roadmaps for the Diagnostics sector. Work with the other Tech BUMs and NPD to develop a sector-wide technology roadmap as well as priorities for design and technology resources.
Work with internal Jabil technology/product/process experts and system architects to define skills required and/or projects required to gain expertise in specific capabilities.
Identify and evaluate with design or supply chain potential technology partnerships, investments and/or acquisitions that support business strategies and achieve quick integration into Jabil for maximum benefit from assets for growth.
Attend and represent Jabil at conferences and in conference booths. Search out new business opportunities at conferences and research potential suppliers of components and services.
Develop strategic relationships with key technical / R&D individuals at product divisions at target accounts.
Provide sales training for specific sectors on a regular basis (hands-on & scheduled)
Develop a network within Jabil to keep up to date on various relevant Jabil capabilities and how to leverage into sectors.
Support annual strategic planning process in sector and capabilities groups to define investments for sector.
This position reports to the Senior Director – Strategic Development – Global Business Units.

Must have medical device regulatory knowledge with requirement to continue to expand training and understanding of ongoing FDA / global regulatory market / product issues

He/She will have demonstrated the ability to rapidly evaluate trends, markets, customer requirements, and industry info, prioritize opportunities and develop a comprehensive strategic business plan.
He/She will have the ability to listen to and communicate with customers at a high strategic and technical level and understand how technology & capabilities can affect customer unmet needs in their products and roadmaps.
Technical Skills – Using technology as a competitive advantage
The candidate must be able to technically understand products and customer product roadmaps, critical usage scenarios, issues and bottlenecks and translate into a product and process technology plan for Jabil by leveraging technical and engineering resources.
The candidate will know how to leverage global resources by investigating, forming relationships, and negotiating with potential partners and alliances, and will have experience in developing various initiatives.

This person should have proven experience with assisting sales team in identifying critical elements & requirements to close business.
He/She will have solid business and financial skills for effective business planning and acquisition identification and management.
He/She will have hands-on experience with senior level business strategy and tactics, and experience in a large manufacturing driven company. He/She will have experience managing strategic alliances, joint ventures, licensing or other forms of agreements.

This person must be willing to challenge the status quo, and be able to build the business case for innovation and change.
He/She will have demonstrated leadership abilities, specifically, the ability to overcome resource limitations and forge business success.
The candidate will have solid experience in new business development, market and company due diligence and M&A.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of related experience
The successful candidate will have a undergraduate degree in a related engineering or similar discipline, and an MBA would be advantageous.
Candidate must have prior technical R&D experience related to analytical instruments, diagnostic instruments, diagnostic consumables, ultrasound and other medical products with a strong history of sales and customer facing interactions.
Prefer candidate to have experience in design engineering in the particular product types listed above.
40-60% global travel anticipated
