Position Summary Statement
The Director, Sports Marketing is a position that will be responsible for supporting the global implementation of Herbalife’s global sports strategy. Will support the acquisition, management, marketing and activation of a global sports portfolio with more than 250 partnerships in nearly 90 countries. This individual will work with the cross-functional sports organization and various corporate and regional departments to ensure execution of all sports marketing strategy, goals and objectives as set by the VP of Sports Marketing.



DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Support VP, Sports Marketing to insure development and execution of corporate sports marketing strategy.
Identify and acquire both local and global corporate sponsorship as guided by corporate and local strategy.
Develop and disseminate key sponsorships, strategies and activation concepts through global marketing network.
Work directly with cross-functional regional and corporate teams to leverage sports marketing initiatives and share best practices.
Identify and create key stories and messaging to convey the authenticity of the partnerships
Create content for Members worldwide to utilize in their sales strategy.
Collaborate with Regional Marketing leaders to support sports marketing efforts of more than 150 local sports properties
Support interaction with Members and customers to create excitement about the brand and use customer feedback to ensure sports sponsorship platform meets market needs
Understand the company's Members and consumers through both primary and secondary research as well as personal interaction at key events and meetings.
Interact with senior management and professionals at all levels throughout the organization.

Skills


Strong Sports knowledge pertaining to industry, athletes, teams and events globally.
General understanding and experience in sponsorship marketing activation.
Strong customer and results orientation.
Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural and regional diversity.
Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
Ability to instill accountability in direct reports and other department personnel.
Understanding of global markets and issues and Marketing process.
Understanding of global sports landscape and function.
Strong presentation skills needed. Must be able to create presentation and deliver presentation to large groups.
Ability to lead large cross functional team.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Strong project management skills
Strong understanding of marketing within social media

Experience


8 years’ demonstrated sports marketing experience, preferably in a CPG company or agency environment.
8 years direct experience working with sports and entertainment sponsorships
3 years’ experience working with global teams and working on the buy side of the sports industry
3 years’ experience working with top tier athletes and sports team
2 years’ experience working in or closely with internal and external marketing departments

Education
Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications or equivalent years of experience

Preferred Qualifications


10 years’ demonstrated sports marketing experience, preferably in a CPG company or agency environment.
Advance degree
Understanding and/or experience within the sports nutrition industry
Experience working with performance related sponsorship programs.
Experience working in the Direct Selling industry
Ability to demonstrate political savvy through the development of alliances/strong working relationships with various departments
Demonstrated success as an influencer in a CPG or Multi-Level Marketing organization
Understanding of direct sales industry
Understanding of global football/soccer industry
