Job Description
The Sales Director oversees the overall sales objectives and all activity associated with the sales process. The director is also responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies and for identifying sales targets. This role involves working with the marketing and development teams, to develop open market research and analysis support related to clients in the Major Markets. This also includes existing and new product offerings/services, as well as supporting the analysis of new markets.
The Director develops and manages key relationships with staff within the sales target as well as with stakeholders involved in the decision process leading to a selection, whether inside our outside the customer organization. The Director manages the Go/No-Go process for a particular sales target, assists the EVP of Sales in the assessment and hiring of political consultants, and manages day-to-day relationships with political stakeholders and consultants.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Must be able to effectively develop an analysis of the sales target and sponsor an overall objective and sales strategy for the pursuit.
• Incumbent will work closely with the developer assigned to his or her sales targets to ensure proper coordination and alignment of proposal development activities with the objectives and strategy of the pursuit.
• Responsible for client management, which includes sales cycle tracking, reporting and coordination. This involves working with the entire municipal development team, other Veolia North America divisions and others involved in the sales/development cycle for an opportunity/project.
• Incumbent is responsible for supporting the preparation of client presentations in the area of writing, editing and production, development and maintenance of competitive review sheets, identification and research of key market trends affecting the activities, analysis of target markets and customers, and research on the water and wastewater sector value chain.
• The Sales Director will also coordinate information exchange with other Veolia North America divisions, and with Industry/Government Affairs to arrange and participate as necessary in major market conferences, including speaking engagements and trade show activity.
Education Level
BA/BSc Degree or equivalent
Education/Experience
3 - 5 years of sales experience in municipal government and/or the public sector
Ability to manage a 12 - 18 month sales cycle
Understanding of, and experience with, database, marketing analysis and marketing tracking tools/programs.
Basic Word Processing, PowerPoint and database management skills.
Market Research experience in environmental (or related field).Good writing and communications skills.
Certification/Licenses
• Current Driver’s License with clean driving record
