THE RUNDOWN The role of Global Social Media Director is to define and deliver a best-in-class social, channel and content strategy that drives the global brand agenda and category objectives, and creates unique, authentic and memorable connections with the Oakley target consumer across all global and regional social platforms. Reporting into the Global Brand Communications Director, the social leader will drive a 24/7 conversation with the Oakley consumer, help create and orchestrate compelling social media channel specific content,
develop both a planned and reactive social communication strategy, act as a brand custodian for the social space, and constantly optimize social initiatives and dialogues based on performance analytics and engagement data. THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Provide leadership, communication and education surrounding digital marketing and social media strategies and best practices across the global organization * Develop and drive the overall global social, platform and content strategies; working closely with global and regional colleagues, Brand Comms, Category & Web leads to ensure strategic alignment * Develop an over-arching brand and category content strategy in partnership with Brand & Category teams * Management of Digital Channel & Digital Content team; and external support agencies * Management and ownership of North American social strategy and delivery as key component of global plan * Oversight of content scheduling, publishing, moderation and ongoing engagement * Develop social behavior and brand identity guidelines for the social space, and govern brand standards across global and regional platforms * In partnership with the Digital Analytics team, analyze relevant metrics to measure the impact of social media activities and amend strategies based on learnings and patterns * Act as the social expert within Brand Comms and assist with campaign development & storytelling tactics * Attend weekly/bi-weekly category team meetings to share analytics, sentiment and conversation
THE QUALIFIERS * 7+ years of working experience in digital and social media marketing. * 5+ years of team management experience. * Degree in Marketing Communications or similar. * Experience managing digitally enabled campaigns across International regions. * Should be a motivated self-starter, process-oriented with high attention to detail. * Employee development and performance management skills. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. * Knowledge of management principles and practices including budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures. * Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. * Extensive understanding of digital and social marketing industry trends, tactics, current events, and user behavior. * Working knowledge of development languages (e.g. HTML, Flash, Javascript, XML), analytics systems and tools, standard CMS platforms and digital channels * Ability to work in fast-paced team environment and flexibility to accommodate demanding projects schedules.
