Job description
The Director of Expert Services is a key role within the eMeter Product House. The role has global accountability for the overall success and product lifecycle, including needs analysis, design, development, marketing and communication and full P&L, of the Expert Services line.
The Expert Services team provides a vital service to our customers and partners, through their enhanced knowledge, experience and capabilities with various aspects of our products. Their solutions orientation and deep knowledge base allow for additional risk mitigation, increased speed of resolution and satisfaction for our customers and partners in targeted and short-term engagements that complement implementation and design work, or address complex issues.
They are accustomed to solving issues with a higher degree of complexity and possess more unique, customized skills than would normally be expected of their implementation colleagues’ standard competence level.
The Director of Expert Services is responsible for overseeing and leading the development of the full business lifecycle of this suite of services from development to delivery. Cross collaboration with Marketing and Sales globally, to help define, market and sell is essential to success, as is management of the Expert Services team to ensure the highest quality of knowledge management and consultancy services to partners and customers worldwide.
Responsibilities
•Responsible and accountable for the overall management of all Expert Services staff
•Responsible for defining and developing the Expert Services offering
•Accountable through sales collaboration to meet target revenue objectives, globally
•Responsible for providing global Sales support ranging from providing input on Solution, Opportunity and Scope decisions for a bid team, through to direct consultation and solution design with customers
•Responsible for direct and frequent interface with Product Management and Engineering teams to ensure
(a) effective knowledge transfer and awareness of all new eMeter product offerings
(b) timely integration of Expert Services team to the Product Management team’s product launch (NPDI) process
(c) expertise can be and is being maintained in team through close relationship and ongoing communication with SMEs
•Responsible for commercial negotiations of business terms for the Expert Services business line
•Responsible for pricing recommendations and cost recovery on all Expert Services work
•Responsible for billable utilization of Expert Services Resources at agreed level
•Accountable and responsible for Non-Billable project screening and selection to ensure strategic and customer advantage, and oversight to manage the billable utilization rate to 50% in FY2015.
•Provides leadership, mentoring and coaching to all Expert Services staff
•Reports key business metrics pertaining to team performance on a regular basis to senior management
•Ensures delivery of services from Expert Services team are provided globally, with high levels of quality and customer satisfaction, measurable by customer survey and testimonials
•Ensures delivery of Expert Services work is performed on time and budget
•Responsible for the definition and effective management of project budgets for team
•Responsible for ensuring that projects are properly planned, communicated and progressed throughout the project lifecycle
•Responsible for recruitment, supervision, appraisal, induction, development and performance management of Expert Services staff
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
•5+ years managing a Services Business in the Enterprise Software Space (preferably in the Energy Sector)
•5+ years experience managing software implementation projects
•8+ years in a professional services/consulting role
•Excellent communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal) and highly-effective solutioning and influencing skills
•Experience in contract and vendor /partner development and management
•Experience in managing project teams and consultants and providing leadership and individual guidance to staff
•Ability to travel domestically with occasional international travel 30%
•Skilled in project planning and project management
•Experience building and managing a new line of Services/ Product
•Experience with SOW contract writing, negotiations and scope control
•Qualification in project and program management methodologies
•Experience of financial control and budget management
•Able to work to deadlines and under pressure
•Utility industry and software experience are key requirements
•Degree from an accredited college or university
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, and Experience:
•MBA a plus
•EnergyIP experience a plus
