Responsibilities
Participates in meetings with Coordinating Director / Coordinating Producer and assigned Producer(s) to develop the concepts, editorial themes and specific narratives for assigned live studio productions or events.
Coordinates with assigned Associate Directors on all pre-production elements as promotions, teases, graphics, effects and font passes on packages; coordinates video and fonts with the flow of the show graphics, animation and related elements of assigned live studio shows; reviews and adjusts studio camera arrangements and oversees camera shots
Directs assigned live television productions from the control room by “calling the shots” for the production crew, technical crew and talent; oversees all aspects of assigned productions such as lighting, camera positions, special effects; ensures the achievement of established production values such as timing, graphics; may direct remote productions and events via mobile units or from control rooms.
Ensures a clear concise and orderly flow of information to those involved during each assigned show
Prior to an assigned live production or event, coordinates and reviews the rundown of the assigned show to reflect the approved concepts, editorial themes and specific narrative in such elements as video, audio and graphics
Works with lead Directors on special graphics elements and animation for specialty shows
Often assigned to special projects
Operates under the general supervision of the Senior Coordinating Director and Coordinating Director of each assigned studio show; directs non-formulaic and specialty shows; directs events including but not limited to football, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball.
Work is reviewed after-the-fact-for quality, adherence to established production values and editorial themes
Directs complex shows and productions with considerable anticipation of outcomes or problems
Is assigned to complex tasks in studio productions
Leads or participates in the development of concepts and editorial themes for assigned live studio productions and events.
Ensures full compliance of assigned studio shows and events to editorial themes and concepts established for each assigned show or events.
Leads or participates in the development of concepts, editorial themes and narratives for assigned live studio productions
Develops camera placement and shot plan for events, communicating to remote crew all the specific parameters of each camera assignment.
Basic Qualifications
Major television market or network experience in both studio and event directing.
A thorough understanding of television production is mandatory.
Clear, concise and comprehensive verbal communication skills.
Ability to think quickly in a pressure situation.
Hard working, detail oriented, passionate about production, interested in technical areas and continually offers creative ideas
Preferred Qualifications
Ten years of Directing experience or network equivalent preferred
Bilingual language skills (Spanish/English) preferred
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
Required Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
