Job Description
This highly technical Engineering Director of International Digital Acquisitions will lead a software product delivery team of 24 employee engineers and a flexible number of contractors located in New York City. The product team is accountable for delivery of online card acquisition journeys supporting the International Consumer and Small Business Card businesses. The New York based Director will partner with the acquisition product and business owners to develop and execute; product vision, backlog, and architecture supporting prospect and existing customer acquisition growth strategies.
Responsibilities Include
development of responsively designed web applications, B2B service integrations, and agent-assisted mobile capabilities supporting customer applications for credit/charge card products
working across American Express Technology organizations and Shared Capabilities teams to identify, develop, and integrate the services, frameworks, and tools enabling Digital Acquisitions experiences
support and transform the International Digital Acquisition portfolio into an agile, product-centric organization
direct end-to-end responsibility for product delivery, budget, resource capacity, availability and performance targets
transforming a team and adopting Agile/Lean principles
leading a team in an environment which includes modern web frameworks, continuous integration/continuous delivery tool chains, and the full software development lifecycle

Qualifications
must be highly technical with proven experience delivering; Web Applications, Responsive/Adaptive Web Design, and Service Oriented Architecture
Proven ability to lead a team in Agile/Scrum-based product driven development
Experience directly leading a technical team of engineers
Hands-on knowledge of current technology standards/trends coupled with desire to continually expand personal knowledge/skills
Experience designing scalable solutions which easily extend to additional markets/languages, including expertise with Internationalization and Localization frameworks
Innovative problem solver with the ability to generate and implement a strategy
Experience re-platforming existing applications, including; infrastructure, architecture and frameworks
Delivery leveraging Responsive Web Design frameworks and Web Development technologies – JEE, JavaScript, Apache, Web Services, SOAP, REST, Node.js, AngularJS and Advanced Web Frameworks
Experience designing and delivering high availability/high performance secure digital applications supporting large traffic volumes
Experience identifying, defining and implementing technical design/coding standards
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with other business and technology leaders
Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to tailor communication to all levels of an organization
Demonstrated financial management skills and responsibility for financial plans exceeding $1M
Demonstrated ability to debate ideas/strategy, comfortable managing constructive conflict, and not afraid to challenge the status quo
Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed organization through a combination of influence, partnership, and authority
Ability to hire, motivate, and grow a high performing team of subject matter experts delivering on strategic objectives while continuously evolving and improving
