Responsibilities
The Biostatistician, VBM is a core member of the VBM team, reporting to the VBM iHub Director, and is responsible for providing leadership and direction on all statistical aspects of VBM-related projects and initiatives. He/She collaborates and works closely with other VBM team members with functional expertise in medicine, informatics, information technology, imaging sciences, epidemiology, health economics/outcomes research, commercial, program management, translational medicine/biomarkers, and statistical programming.
He/She provides direct supervision to VBM statistical programming personnel. He/She also provides guidance to the VBM group in scientific strategy development and execution, with particular focus from a statistical lens, and plays a key role in helping the team to achieve VBM and corporate vision and goals. He/she is responsible for keeping informed of the latest developments in statistical analysis approaches and literature in MS. He/she is responsible for keeping informed of the latest developments in statistical analysis. Additionally, this role will have formal connections to the Biostatistics Function allowing for professional development and collaborations across Clinical Development.
Qualifications
• Broad and thorough understanding of statistical principles, particularly with respect to statistical methodology with observational/real world data; able to practice and implement them
• Prior experience working in and broad knowledge of multiple sclerosis highly preferred
• Ability to develop innovative/creative statistical/technical solutions to complex problems
• Proficiency and experience in SAS programming and knowledge of SAS procedures and other statistical software
• Attentive to detail
• Able to write and present information effectively
• Effective communicator, e.g. able to explain methodology and consequences of decisions in lay terms; able to understand requests for complex analyses, etc.
• Able to manage many projects simultaneously, to manage conflicting priorities, and to be flexible when priorities change
• Able to manage staff
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Able to interact and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners and stakeholders
Education Title will be based on the candidate’s prior experience and education level, with particular attention given to prior experience working in multiple sclerosis and with real world/observational data. MS or PhD in Biostatistics/Statistics or equivalent
