At a time when many companies are looking to strengthen their balance sheets and get back to basics, the twin issues of currency and accuracy come to the fore. Many of the key operations of a tax department managing fixed assets, property tax, inventory and/or tax credits can be enormously time-consuming and complex, not to mention frequently scrutinized by state and federal authorities. Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax
Certification(s) Required: CPA, Enrolled Agent or Member of the Bar
Knowledge Preferred
Extensive knowledge of Research and Development tax issues, analyzing organizations and maximizing the R&D tax benefit.
Thorough knowledge of interviewing clients from C-level through to line executives in order to better recognize tax liability savings in the R&D environment.
Skills Preferred
Extensive technical skills with research credit regulations from the IRS, research credit case law, and utilizing R&D databases.
Thorough experience identifying and addressing client needs: developing and sustaining deep client relationships using networking, negotiation and persuasion skills to identify and sell potential new service opportunities; preparing and presenting complex written and verbal materials; and defining resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing and collection.
Thorough experience as a team leader: leading teams to generate a vision, establish direction and motivate members, create an atmosphere of trust, leverage diverse views, coach staff, and encourage improvement and innovation.
