Director - Shared Services - eBay - San Jose


Job description
Primary Job Responsibilities:

This leader is responsible for all North America Shared Services, including: Payroll, General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Payable, Vendor Master, Client Wires, and Drop Ship, activities for the eBay operations.

This leader will set the strategic direction for the North America Shared Services, defining and planning for the achievement of goals and objectives.


Ensures team achieves the optimal balance between cost, efficiency and service delivery.

Balances efforts between operations, client interfacing work, and strategic efforts in improving technologies, service delivery, and efficiency

Effectively aligns with other business partners and centers of excellence to ensure seamless delivery of services.

Payroll

Ensures timely and accurate processing of U.S. and Canada payroll services for approximately 12,000 employees.
General Ledger

Overseas the timely, complete and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, Financial Accounting Standard Board Statements (FASBS) and other regulatory agency guidelines.
Coordinates and manages all North America closing activities within the parameters of ebay's monthly close guidelines, including internal and external auditor commitments
P2P Operation

Responsible for Procure to Pay (P2P) process (accounts payable, purchase order management, drop ship vendor master data, global travel) in order to ensure an efficient, effective and comprehensive service to the North America business and its vendors
Overall

Responsible for maintaining an exceptionally strong internal control environment to ensure compliance to standards and risk is mitigated.
Customer and employee satisfaction is a top priority
Provides oversight to our 3rd party outsourcing activities in North America operations
Ensures all necessary year end reporting to outside agencies (i.e. for AP 1099s and Payroll W2s, T4s) is completed timely/accurately.
Independently manages and drives to closure special projects on an as needed basis with cross functional business partners, peers and business controller
Responsible for best practices research, recommendations, and implementation.
Effectively coordinates with other members of the Finance function, the region and corporate to balance clients expectations with team's resources and workloads.
Ensures reporting of key metrics and SLAs are maintained
Aligns North America operations where appropriate with other regions where practical
Responsible for managing, mentoring and motivating and an organization of approximately 27 employees in San Jose, CA, King of Prussia, PA and Austin, TX

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 10-15 years of operational and/or financial accounting experience
Direct experience managing large teams in Financial Shared Services Environment
Minimum 10 years managing people/teams
Knowledge of US GAAP reporting and strong understanding of internal controls, compliance and SOX
Ability to work in fast-paced and initiative rich environment
Change Management, Strategic Agility, and Strong Communication skills desired
Proven track record of meeting critical deadlines, problem resolution, project management, and customer satisfaction
SAP knowledge preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
Exposure to Travel & Expense processes, credit card administration, and fixed assets
Job Requirements:
