Director - Technology Architecture - Prudential - Hartford


Job description
Prudential Retirement's Information Technology organization is actively seeking an experienced and innovation focused Enterprise Architect to drive technology direction for Prudential’s Retirement division. This role will define strategy and approach for investments in technology including mobile, web, analytics, content & information services, self-service tools, enterprise search, social media and cloud-based digitally managed services in an integrated model in alignment with our company's digital strategy and core business systems.


This role will work closely with multiple internal business groups, the Chief Enterprise Architect, Data Architects, Solution Architects, and Corporate Technology teams to ensure that technology capability investments and project solutions are in alignment with overall business and technology strategy. The candidate will partner with Client Experience, Digital Marketing, Product, Operations, and Sales teams in developing and assessing strategic direction on key initiatives.



Responsibilities

Providing architecture and technology leadership across a range of current technologies including but not limited to Mobile/Web frameworks, Portals, Web Content Management and Collaboration platforms.
Developing and evolving architecture patterns and while driving elaboration of Solution Architectures for the identified patterns
Prescriptively guiding development teams and solution architects while providing technical leadership to the design, development/implementation, and testing of business solutions, integrating legacy and new technologies
Preparing and presenting potential technical solutions and advising the business on the technical and business value of the proposition.
Participate in collaborative architectural governance processes to align solution development with defined architectures
Assess new and emerging technologies to drive visionary business and architecture strategy
Recommending novel and innovative, yet proven and demonstrated approaches to solving business and technical problems
Reviewing, analyzing and evaluating market requirements, business requirements and project briefs in order to design the most appropriate end-to-end technology solutions
Keeping up-to-date on new technology, standards, protocols and tools in areas relevant to the rapidly changing digital environment

Desired Skills and Experience
Over 10 years of demonstrated thought leadership in technology & architecture leadership roles with increasing responsibility & scope
Experience in the field of contemporary software development and hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining highly-engineered, enterprise-level online solutions for large clients
Proven experience in agile delivery methodologies and hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining highly-engineered, enterprise-level solutions
Extensive experience developing roadmaps ,reference architectures and capability models using proven methodologies and frameworks
Experience collaborating with solution, information, and application architects and infrastructure engineers to identify, design, and implement highly complex, end-to-end solutions
The candidate will possess strong leadership and change management skills and will be focused on accelerating IT solution delivery in the online applications arena
Familiarity with technologies such as social media, mash-ups, personalization and behavioral targeting
Understanding of web analytics and the user centric design (UCD) methodology
Experience and understanding of development with .NET, J2EE/Java, SQL, XML, HTML/DHTML, CSS3/HTML5, jQuery and other Javascript libraries as well as open Source frameworks
Experience with web middleware such a Websphere application and portal servers, JBoss as well as content management solutions like Adobe CQ5, Opentext/Vignette and SDL Tridium
Experience with Data modeling, object modeling, design patterns
Experience with integrating enterprise business systems with new and advanced digital solutions (both internally and externally hosted/developed)
Experience with deploying Service Oriented Architectures and associated Web Services development & standards.
Strong Program Execution, Project Management, and Project Budgeting skills
Experience with user experience design, information architecture, solution prototyping, and agile web development processes.
Platform and Architecture technical skills and knowledge of emerging technologies/platforms and service-level supported cloud infrastructures
Demonstrated ability to influence people at a variety of levels internally and externally.
Ability to lead and manage organizational change with ability to predict, recognize and manage cultural and technological changes within the organization and to prescribe corresponding transitions.
Excellent oral and written communications; an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and marketing skills to work with users, senior management, and external personnel on significant matters, often requiring coordinated activity across organizational lines.
Broad understanding of Retirement or Financial Services businesses
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
