Job description
Hotel Irvine has a thoroughly updated and transformed collection of venues, including a new restaurant, bar, marketplace, indoor and outdoor rooms, the largest ballroom in OC, a stunning new theater, and the Backyard – a sophisticated yet relaxed outdoor event space. We are hiring an extremely talented Director of Engineering who will be responsible for the overall maintenance operations of the hotel, as well as leading and developing a team of engineers. This is an excellent opportunity to manage and work on a 500+ room property.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mentor and develop engineering management staff.
Oversee the maintenance of transportation vehicles .
Develop, implement and manage the energy conservation program.
Coordinate vendor bidding and manage resort capital expenditure projects .

Implement guest recovery programs that positively impact the guest’s experience.
Conduct visual inspections to assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structures, landscaping, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and other related equipment. Will be required to be hands on as needed.
Develop, recommend and implement the department’s fiscal budget and capital expenditure plan consistent with maintaining a resort property.
Establish preventative maintenance programs for all equipment, systems, guestrooms and public areas.
Direct and oversee the recruitment and training of engineering associates. Ensure that associates are trained in accordance with standards.
Participate in Executive Committee which is responsible for planning and leading hotel operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Ten to fifteen years of relevant work experience, including management experience. Hotel/Resort experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree required.
Strong knowledge of building trades: electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and general building practices.
Strong knowledge of the maintenance of laundry and kitchen equipment.
Knowledge of facility regulations and safety standards.
Knowledge of state-of-the-art maintenance technology applications.
Strong planning, organization and communication skills.
Ability to maintain any required licenses, certificates and/or permits.
