Director - Affiliate Relations & Marketing - Warner Bros. Entertainment Group of Companies - Burbank


Job description
The CW Network, LLC seeks a Director Affiliate Relations & Marketing for the Network Distribution department.
• Further affiliate partnerships by speaking to General Managers, Sales Managers, Creative Service Directors and Programming personnel weekly. Identify actionable opportunities and effectuate change on a local market basis in all areas of the television station to achieve maximum value for The CW Network and affiliate partner. Enforce contractual obligations and promote network value and objectives.
• Create, develop and maintain local sales and marketing promotions.
• Serve as the primary contact (affiliate representative) to approximately 50 affiliates in the top 200 DMA’s:
o Provide direction and informative communication on network matters to General Managers, Sales Managers Creative Service Directors and Programming personnel.

o Effectively promote the CW value.
o Perform market analysis to determine station affiliation renewal strategy for internal presentation.
o Monitor and enforce affiliation agreements as it pertains to preemptions and negotiate makegood time periods and promotion.
o Analyze, negotiate and communicate preemptions and makegoods in assigned DMA’s.
o Monitor and enforce affiliation agreements as it pertains to promotion, contractual off-air media obligations and cross promotion in assigned DMA’s.
o Monitor, consult and assist in maximizing distribution within affiliate DMA.
o Analyze ratings for assigned DMA’s and consult with station management on a regular basis.
o Regular phone contact with affiliates to present, discuss, and provide insight on local issues and challenges related to programming, sales, marketing/promotion and distribution.
o Fulfill General Manager, Sales Manager, Creative Services Director and Program Director requests and materials.
o Stay abreast and report on competitive market conditions.
• Work In conjunction with network sales and network marketing to create, develop, and maintain local sales and marketing promotions with the purpose of driving ratings and revenue.
• Sell-through existing sales and marketing promotions.
• Obtain information and develop one-sheets demonstrating locally produced sales and marketing promotions for the CW’s Monday Insider newsletter.
• Report usage of CW generated affiliate sales and marketing promotions.
• Obtain and communicate network sales and marketing promotions to affiliate team and affiliates.

Desired Skills and Experience
• BA/BS degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years broadcast television experience at a network and/or affiliate with 3-5 years in local sales or marketing.
• Experience at a WB, UPN, CW or IND affiliate preferred. Experience working directly with the broadcast network affiliate relations representative helpful.
• Must have understanding of the broadcast affiliate business model and monetization.
• Local broadcast television advertising sales acumen essential.
• Media planning experience; knowledge of cooperative advertising preferred.
• Current perspective of challenges facing broadcast television general managers.
• Ability to converse parallel to all station personnel.
• Proven track record of formulation, execution and completion of creative local revenue generating marketing programs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills a must.
• Microsoft Office knowledge required.
