Job description
The Director of Production and Development will direct and manage the production and development teams, and be responsible for managing, placing and tracking both production and sample orders. This role will also be responsible for production planning, managing inventory, compliance and ensuring quality standards are met by the factories. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage and analyze vendor capacity and lead times.
Manage full relationships with vendors to ensure product standards are met while maintaining cost and efficiency of process.
Inventory management- maintain/maximize inventory while covering customer order/needs.
Work with factories to ensure accurate yields and costing.
Work closely with production and development team on all sourcing, sampling, and logistics.
Oversee development of seasonal styles to best assess factory allocation for production hand off.
Analyze and distribute multiple reports on weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis including: po status, WIP and production flow.
Responsible to source, cost, negotiate and execute all production including seasonal, special projects and exclusives.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and/or efficiencies in production.
Communicate and follow up daily with contractors.
Collaborate with design, merchandising, and PD to ensure Calendar is being adhered.
Work with the Wholesale Team to ensure orders are entered on time and accurately.
Work with planning on reorders and raw material allocations.
Negotiate and coordinate pricing/scheduling with vendors.
Manage, lead and mentor production and development team members.
Support development in building relationships with factories and vendors.
Support production and development teams in factory communication, logistics, and raw material procurement.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelors Degree preferred.
5-8 yrs production and development experience in related field
Knowledge of production as it pertains to time of placing orders, to time of customer delivery.
Excellent organizational skills
Strong communication and written skills.
Strong negotiation experience
Strong prioritization skills.
Ability to multi task.
Strong excel knowledge.
AIMS knowledge preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office applications is necessary.
