Director - Middle School - Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco - San Francisco


Job description
The Middle School Services Director is responsible for providing a continuum of services for 6th through 8th grade members, including the development and delivery of Success Equation-based programs, academic support, mentorship, and high school preparatory support. S/he is responsible for achieving the outlined goals and objectives of the middle school services program. The goal is for every middle school member at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco to have enriching experiences in all areas of the success equation and to transition successfully from middle school to high.
KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):
Success Equation Programs - 40%
With assistance of Department Directors ensure that quarterly programs for middle school-aged youth are available throughout the school year and summer programs
Ensure that middle school programs promote academic success, healthy lifestyles, community engagement and leadership, and job readiness
Design and implement programs based on interests of middle school-aged youth
Use data to develop comprehensive programs that meet Clubhouse member needs
Effectively seek out collaborations to enhance programs offered to middle school-aged youth

Facilitate the integration of middle school members into other departments of the organization/Clubhouse
Academic/High School Prep - 20%
With assistance of Education Director manage tutoring, academic support sessions, and comprehensive mentorship program
Develop and maintain plans for members focusing on high school transition
Effectively identify and communicate resources available through the organization and/or other agencies
Partner with Clubhouse Education Director to ensure middle school members receive quality educational support services
Mentorship/Counseling - 15%
Build life skills development into programs that Club members need to successfully transition out of the Clubhouse at age 18
Assist all interested middle school members individually or in small groups with developing academic, career, and personal/social skills, goals and plans
Administrative - 15%
Management and analysis of attendance and participation data
Attend all meetings, conferences and training as required
Any other duties the Clubhouse Director might deem necessary to the best interest of the Club and the overall organization
At all times maintain a professional appearance and manner reflective of the high standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco
Other Job Segments - 10%
Promote and stimulate middle school membership in the Club ensuring that every middle school member receives needed resources and support necessary to meet individual goals, interests, and needs
Partner with Citywide Directors at BGCSF to ensure consistency and quality of programming
Conduct outreach to a diverse population of middle school-aged youth
Facilitate Middle School Night activities
Partner with other agencies in the community to help support the Middle School Program
Supervise the maintenance and operation of the Club’s physical property, insuring club member safety at all times
Transport Club members in Club vehicles or on public transportation as needed

Desired Skills and Experience
KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:
Bilingual English/Spanish
BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university or related work experience
Masters Degree and PPS credential highly desired
Class B license for operation of motor vehicles in order to transport youth members
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to lift 15 lbs.
Must be able to stand for at least 1 hour
Must be able to sit at computer workstation for long time periods
